I bet they fit like shit. They would look sick though with the rest of the body CF. They would crunch like a tortilla chip in an accident though.

I don't even see how those could be beneficial... Well... Wait, yet I do... No rust ever... But so not worth that kind of money...

I wanted to get a CF bumper when I had to replace mine. Way too expensive though. Doors would be bad ass.

Have you felt how heavy our doors are? Good lord they must weigh like 43234 tons. I bet those CF ones are light as a feather.

Lol you got it but, oh wait they weigh 43233 tons. You had it off by one ton, not too bad, LMFAO.

But what do you do if they hang a bit?

***EDIT***
I mean the stock doors, how the hell do prop them back up to where they should be?

Apparently you never had to open a door to a 3rd gen f-body before... My Talon doors feel light as a feather compared to the Firebird's old steel doors... And the Cobalt doors... Well... Wow, they are just gonna spoil me. lol

I'm not talking about just opening it up, i'm talking about actually lifting the door up and off of the car. But I'm sure the Firebird doors are heavy too.

True that...i had to replace 2 doors in my 1992 camaro RS..talk about a biatch to line up and hold yourself :/

The eclipse doors arent that bad considering they dont have weight bars running through them and the CF doors probably weigh like 15 - 20 lbs at most. If I got them I would seal the passenger door shut , barely ever drive it in order to reduce the chance of something breaking on the driver side door.

Over all weight reduction would be exceptional with these doors , CF hood , CF hatch , lighter seats , lighter rims , reduced weight in useless things like A/C components , rear seats , steel exhaust swapped for aluminum or titanium , braking components , lighter flywheel and dayuuumn..it would rocket off the line like a bullet.

Thats hella expensive. Someone on tuners was selling them like hot cakes and I don't remember how much they were but I think they were a heck of a lot cheaper than $1200.

I don't know if it's a "weight bar", but there is a big brace that runs down the center of the door horizontally.

You can gut the stock doors to not be too heavy, but there goes all of your structural integrity if you get t boned. I say fuck it, I'll drive with that extra 100 lbs or whatever, better than A) being fucked with no door integrity or B) getting CF shards flying all over fuck if you get hit.

getting CF shards flying all over fuck if you get hit.

Every body always talks about how CF "shatters" upon impact, but I swear every time I have ever seen a car wreck with a CF hood...it just bends...stays in tack in one piece.

I'm not saying that a CF door is safe for a side impact crash....cause I damn sure wouldnt want to be behind it. I'm just saying that I've never seen CF "shatter into a million pieces" or dissentigrate

Shut up you! I am a moderator, that means I am always right! :p

Nah, I know what you mean and I dont know that it would shatter like that but a hard side impact like that and I am pretty sure that it wouldnt just hold together either. It would be interesting to see some tests.

Cause we are smart enough to not pull that kind of shit on the street... Unlike some Cobalt owners I have read about... :uhoh:

Well the ad says its for 2 doors so 1200 is about the same price as if you got 2 Cf hoods... And the strength of carbon fiber is in how its laid or woven usually CF is built to be very strong in absorbing forces in one direction so depending on how they build it it could be very strong in absorbing side impacts but would bend or shatter if it took a significant front impact. Another way to make CF really strong is to put a honeycomb web of aluminum foil looking stuff in between two sheets of CF. Thats how they make solar panels for the space station. Ive held a 1'x1'x4" piece of solar panel at lockheed martin and it didnt even weigh 1lb so those doors probly weigh less than 20lbs. The engineers said that it had the strength of a 4" piece of solid aluminum. Its cool shit!

Just wanted to bring this up, on the new Corvettes, the floors are made of balsa wood wrapped in carbon fiber. Now that's lightweight.
