I've got a 1991 Cavalier with 175,500 miles on it. I was wondering whether or not to invest a lot of money in it and make it a one of a kind car by replacing the engine and doing various body work to it. Would it be worth it or should I just buy something newer? I'm just looking for an opinion here. Thanks.

tons of people have their opinions on this, an i am no different, i just don't see alot of people agreeing with mine, but here it is anyway.

I would not personally do anything to a cavi, would probably never buy one either. You need to ask yourself if you want to put the time and money into it. do you wanna keep the car? with that mileage parts will wear out, some may be already, others will have to be replaced for an engine swap and so on. Do you want to look at it when you are done and have that kickass grin from ear to ear? At the end of the day, it matters what you want/like, not what any/every other person thinks/likes.

I for one see no need for a body kit unless it serves a purpose(aero or airflow to needed areas and so on). Others like kits for the looks only. I don't care how something looks near as much as how well it runs. I have a strong disliking of fords, have already voiced my opinion on cavis, but regardless, if you have put time into something to make it your own, regardless of my opinion of the original car, i give props where props are due.

to make it short, go with your gut. It's your car and your time/money. make it yours. my best advice is to PLAN PLAN PLAN, then do. so what if you have a garage full of parts to put on, u need a good plan to make it all work. a beuatiful car is the result of time spent working on it. they say you can't polish a turd, but i have seen the nappiest honda crx turn into a nice looking ride(i don't really care for hondas either). don't be afraid to ask for help on things and post some pics. ignore the shit talkers. Best of luck!
