Hello everyone,
Been researching this site for awhile now. Excellent resource!! I am stuck on one issue with my 97 lesabre. Electrical darn it. The bcm makes a long tone sound( as if you left your phone off the hook for a long time)., and I can hear it click click.when I touch the bcm I can feel the click inside it. this affects the courtesy lights and the door locks.During this long tone, I also have no manual door locks or interior lights what so ever. I have checked door lock loop and all actuators work fine/. Dash lights, headlites all work and fade liike they should.I have checked and cleaned grounds at battery and floor sills both sides.I have power and ground to the bcm whenit works and is in defunk mode.( I think that connector is always hot isnt it) When I pull the fuse for the courtesy lights and then replug the fuse back in ,the long tone stops and this seems to reset the bcm and I have courtesy lights and locks on shift into drive.Sometimes if I just start the car it will reset only then to return to the long tone after I shut the car off. Also This remedies only for a short time though. The car will be off and the tone comes back on its own.I aslo have pulled fuse to check door lock relays and headlight relays. All click as normal. If i pull the courtesy light fuse, now no interior lights at all,and then I will have shift to gear door locks. There was a time when the courtesy lights would glow on on their own and shutfade offf ,only for a few seconds , but this was months ago. I did take it to the dealer ,but theyve never heard of this on a 97.Any Ideas experts thanks.

Okay , I checked all my groundsagain..Im in anew realm of car technology. What ever happened to simple diagnosis?, Darn sensors soleniods and computor chips.Any way i finally broke down and took it to a buick dealer service. That took alot a courage on my part.swallow my pride. The tech pulled the bcm and verified there were corroded and broken solders inside the bcm.Guess I got close to finding out why it was behaving as it did. Thanks to this web site!!! I beleive if I can walk into a dealer and at least sound like i know whatIm talking about I may have an advantage.Priced a new one, was waiting for the big bill. $155 bucks. I can live with that.Appear to be on the level these guys. Hopefully, hopefully that will be enough of that electrical headache. My car runs really well otherwise and I keep up all the shade tree maintenance religiously.Got off lucky this time!!
(Scenario) Its the nightmare stuff like if your blinker doesnt work ,its because theres a short in your fuel pump that I just will not accept asnd yes thats a nightmare. Most of all thanks for the wealth of info guys and gals. I will keep reading.
