All blow, no heat..

Hi Guys, my heater in my Plymouth Grand Voyager Rallye (97) is not working.

The blower seems to be working fine but even sliding the control up to full heat, I'm not getting any hot air through the vents.

I am wondering if something has burned out, I have recently moved to Canada from Texas and back in Texas I hardly had any cause to use the heater, but I seem to remember a bit of a burning smell last year when I did have it on.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I should look at first?

I had the radiator replaced in the summer - is there likely to be any connection?

Check the temp gauge, needle should be near mid point on the gauge, a thermostat stuck wide open will keep the temp from the vents abnormally low. I had one on my '96 where the cage on the thermostat had broken and jammed her to the wide open mode.

Thank you, I will look at that, we had the radiator, thermostat, and some tubes etc replace in the summer so I wonder if something wasn't put in right?

Another thing you may want to check is to see if the heater is plugged or restricted. Simply way to check is feel the hoses going into the heater core. Warm van to normal operating temp. and feel the hoses at the heater core both should be hot to the touch. if one is significantly cooler the heater is plugged. if this is the case you can try to back flush the heater with a garden hose. but i will warn you this can cause them to leak as well. I worked in a radiator shop for about 20 years plugged or restricted heaters are a common problem especialy if any stop leak was used prior to having the radiator replaced. you run about a 85% cance that the heater will not leak and that this will cure your problem if the thermostat checks good

I've had that many times on my oder cars. What I do is install a prestone backflush kit and:

- drain the radiator,
- put in some liquid flush stuff,
- and then flush it all with water.

Just be careful not to suse the "super flush". I've heard that it has a higher chance of taking away all the rust--and so causing pin holes.
