*** I had posted this in the OT thread, but i decided to create a new thread becasue of the recent questions on the snake eyes mod. So for the sake of those who actually utilize the search feature, i present the snake eyes guide. Anyone with any questions or ideas on the snake eyes mod please post for others future reference. thank you.***

WooooHooo I skipped my Bio homework and completed my Snake Eyes mod part duex! :runaround: :naughty: :sunglasse :smokin:

There are many different ways to get the snake eyes look (and i just created a new one lol) the "Snake eyes" look on the 3000gt is when light passes through the clear lens located above the front bumper and directly in front of the pop up headlight assembly (first gen). These clear lenses are actually made by mitsu to allow the driver of the gt to signal other drivers without having to use hazards or their pop up lights. (when you pull back on the light control similar to when you switch from low to high beams, light from the headlamp shines through the clear lens.)

The most common way of getting the snake eyes look is by cutting the wiring going from the switch inside the car to the headlight pop up motor (not the actual light). Doing this lets you turn on your headlights without having them pop up (this giving you the snake eyes look) and then when you need your lights you use the headligh maintenence button (left side of the steering wheel) adn the lights pop up. The issues with this is that you have to use your headlights and this causes lots of heat adn also that you have not many options, also could hurt the resale value.

another method is shown on www.vr4stealth.com (http://www.vr4stealth.com) This uses a new turn signal light and mounts it underneath the lens with the bulb protrudint into the lens. It is then wired to the turn signal lights. I liked this method because i could use my snake eyes and they would flash with my turn signals, however i still flet like there was too much heat inside the lens.

Origionally i had it like the vr4stealth.com guy showed, using a turn signal bulb, but they seemed too hot and the light was concentrated in the center of the lens, :disappoin

So I came up with my own design:tongue: , wired in 8 led's into each lens, 4 wired to the parking lights and 4 wired to the turn signal. this way i get snake eyes just by turning the parking lights on, also they blink with the turn signals or hazards. with the led's there is no heat and the light is less concentrated than with the vr4stealth method.

Very easy though a little time consuming, took me about 2 hours but i had a couple phone calls. I took some more pics and will try to post, its just a pain with this slow arse internet connection i have :banghead:

sounds pretty badass. cant wait to see pics, and a write-up!

for your next trick, get the fog lights to be able to be used with the parking lights, rather than needing the headlights. :grinyes:

HAHA, thanks man, Ill try to get to my parents house soon so i can post the pics, the only drawback to my led version is that they arent very noticable in sunlight, but no snake eyes are in full sunlight and I like that they look stock durring the day and crazy at night.

LMAO, I actually just posted how to get the fogs like that, although i havent done it to my car yet. Ill repost that on here also for future reference.

*****Ok, this is how you can get your Foglights to come on when you turn on your parking lights instead of only with your headlights. I havent done this yet but am curious if the switch for the fogs in the cabin would still work (i do not beleive so, unless the switch deals with the ground of the fogs also. ) ill think about how to get that to work also.... enjoy****

Peice of cake man. though you may have to up a fuse, im not sure if adding the fogs on the parking fuse will tip it over or not.:uhoh:

anyway, remove the side marker light (one screw and a clip) you will have three wires going to that light, one is ground, one is parking lights and one is turn signals. Strip one of the wires that is not the ground.

Go underneath the front bumper to where the foglights are, strip a section of the positive fog wire harness and splice in a 2ft length of wire. (not much power here so prob a high quality speaker wire will work)

now attatch the other end of your new wire to the stripped section on the side marker light, turn on your parking lights, if your foglight doesnt come on then hit the hazards (**Note the turn signals only work when the car is on so always test with the hazards**) if the fog wasnt on then it should now blink with the flashers, this means you need to use the other positive wire on the side marker light.

MAKE SURE TO USE TONS OF ELECTRICAL TAPE AND COVER ALL OF YOUR BARE WIRES!!!! :icon16:

the Vehicle

here is the lense after the led's were wired in, notice that they are bunched together in to two groups, one will illuminate with the parking lights, and the other group will with the turn signals.

this shows that how i wired the led's on through the side marker lights (be sure to see which wire is parking and which is turns.
