Air Filter Change

Can someone walk me through how to change the air filter for my '01 Venture? Do I have to remove something before I start? I know you unclip the 2 clamps, but other than that the manual just says to bend back the cover. It seems way too hard to bend back, I don't get it. Anyone? Your help is much appreciated.

I'm a do-it-yourself kind of guy if reasonable... I paid my mechanic $18 to put in a K&N that I bought online. It is worth it.
