Nice choice on the Alpine products. Alpine makes great products. They're nicely priced, great sound quality, and they don't overrate their crap. What they advertise is what you get. But that amp is good and it really puts out its advertised power. I'm sure that head unit is great too. And I would also recommend alpine speakers to replace all your factorys. As for those dual subs....poop.
And you said something about adding another amp for the alpine replacement interior speakers...you probably won't need to. You will probably be suprised at how good those alpine speakers will sound powered soley by the head unit.

And how much have I spent?

$200-Kenwood head unit
$65ish-Kenwood 6 1/2's
$85ish-Kenwood 6x9's
$600ish-Orion HCCA 250r amp
$250ish-Orion HCCA 12r sub
$60ish-home made box
As for the phoenix gold 2 gauge power wire and rca cables...i dont even remember

Does a tv count?

Pioneer HU - $300ish couple years ago
JL 12w6 Sub - $175
JL E1400D amp -$140
Custom box - $40
Myron & Davis 5.6" LCD screen - $100
Dvd Player - $75
Wiring and misc - $25-30 probably

All together about $850ish, got the sub and amp used so that saved me some good money. I was also going to put in all new speakers too but then basically quit driving the car, so that never got done, which I'm glad I saved the money.

Pioneer Head Unit - $50 used
Orion amp - $50
AudioBahn sub - $150
Wiring harness - $40
Sub enclosure - $30
Tweeters - $20
Total - $340

Do you really thing i shouldnt get another amp for the interior speakers? the speakers can take like 200 watts of power eatch and the amp i was gunna get was the same alpine amp that i am gunna hook my subs up to only the 4 channel one and it only put like 80 watts per channel so i thought the amp was even kinnda lacking watts per channel! and u say dont buy an amp and just have the power from my head unit?

And the wire u said u got was 2 gauge the person helping me put all this in said 4 gauge was good enought. your thoughts?

When you get the alpine speakers just hook them up to the head unit and see how it sounds. You probably won't want another amp, its all up to you. I mean your not going to want more bass out of them...thats what you've got the subs for.

For that amp 4 gauge is more than enough.

4 gauge wire should be fine for you. As for getting that second amp, the speakers will sound fine with just the HU powering them, but they'll have a little more "umph" powered by an amp. It's all personal preference whether you want it to sound "good", or sound like you're at a friggin recording studio.

Pioneer deck - 180

Talon:
Nothing :)
Cavy:
Crappy deck - $130
Sony 444w 4ch - $100?
Pioneer 760w 2ch - $150?
JBL 5.25" components - $40
Eclipse 6x9's - $100
10" MTX Thunder 8000 - $80
Wiring, CD player bracket $75

For a total of $725. I am going to scale it down though, sorta in preparation of me selling it. My buddy Mike is going to take the speakers and 4ch amp in exchange for buying me a new set of walmart speakers. My brother is going to take the sub amp and sub. With that money I will buy a new head unit as my old one is a fucking POS and broke a LONG time ago. That way I will have a working system if/when I want to sell it and I wont have to yank the sound out later.

Geez you guys spend a lot of money on systems... Have you never heard of Ebay? lol... I bought all my shit brand new and I only have about 600 bucks in it all. One of the nicer Alpine headunit's, 12" type r sub, 1200watt mono channel amp, and 6.5" type r's in the fronts and rears... That is all I need... It is way overkill IMO... Oh and then I have two 10" Alpine type s's and a 600 watt mono channel amp in the Cobalt for 250 bucks... Again, major overkill... I'm actually thinking about selling that little setup because I realized I don't really need it that much...

Kenwood deck (originally $400): $90
Alpine 3-way 6x9: $30
Alpine 3-way 6x6: $30
Harnesses: $2

Worked at Best Buy bitches. When I worked there I bought 3 full setups (minus subs/amps) and got everything for under $200 each time around. HUGE markup on audio equipment.

I should note that there was a pretty considerable sound quality difference when I went with my 4 channel amp, if you can get a decent one for cheaper I would recommend it.

Your amp can make or break your sound system. Your speakers may sound good on a cheaper amp, but hook them up to something nice and it will sound much better. IMO dont go to cheap on amps, you can get some good ones pretty cheap on ebay but I wouldn't get anything thats not a good name brand.

2 12" RF p2's - $320
Q-logic sub box - $170
1200 watt RF 2 ch amp - $500
Xplod speakers front and back - yuck ~ $200
Dual deck with 7" retractable screen - $450
Wiring ~ $40
Blue neons for box ~ $30
Pioneer 400wx4 speaker amp - free came with car :-D
Total ~ $1710 although I got the box amp and deck for xmas last year...divorced parents rule lol...

What I payed ~ $570

But the priciest thing about it would have to be the non existant trunk space...ouch

dude ditch the dual brand subs. Return them quickly! No offense. I use to sell them at best buy, people would bring them back blown all the time.

I run alpine front speakers, alpine backs, stock amp, alpine head unit, alpine ipod port, alpine cd changer, (non name brand AI-NET splitter), alpine sat tuner.

JL 500/1 amp. JL 10" sub. Whole setup cost some where around 700?

Blackcrow64

Ah my bad. It was 800 watts, not 1200... The sub has a max of 1200 watts... It was the older style of the MRP-M850.

I have a pair of those duals in the expedition...I think they are ok for only paying like 120 (open item discount) they havnt blown but they are not alpines...good for extremely modest users...its gotta be the flashy blue lights and the price that sells them...The first month or so that I had them I would have to crawl into the back to turn on the neons which sucked...So eventually I hooked up an old fog light switch under the steering wheel and tapped the power cord for the lights.

Girls like them when they ride...Guys not so much

I havent messed with eclipse to know much about them. But JL is crap. I would never buy JL. I don't see how anyone that sells that shit can sleep at night. Its waaaaay overpriced. You can get much better for much cheaper. A 1000 watt amp is a thousand dollars....poop.

Mine wasn't to horribly bad, so I steam cleaned the carpeting back there. The floor looks absolutely amazing. But, I mean if yours is beyond repair, Im sure you could find some decent carpet out of a parts care and steam that. If not I will look around and try to find a link to a place that sells it.

Take out the trunk carpet, spray it down with some Blue Max carpet cleaner from napa, take it to the car wash and wash the shit out of it, reinstall it and be on your merry way.

If it is really bad you can buy some universal carpet liner:
http://www.stockinteriors.com/items.asp?Makeid=46&Modelid=253&MainCatId=4&Desc=Eagle_Talon_Trunk_Liner

Looking into it they have molded carpet for the front for a fiar price...might have to invest in some.

-200watt amp -FREE
-Preinstalled Pioneer headunit from prev. owner -FREE
-Preinstalled sub wiring to underneath the pass. seat -FREE
- 8' feet of speaker cable - $2

A grand wopping total of $2.00. It doesn't rattle near by car windows but, it adds just enough bass to my favorite songs. :)

what wireing kit do u guys suggest? my amp is putting out 500 watts

new2mitsu
11-08-2007, 06:24 PM
at 500 watt amp, all you're gonna need is 8 guage wire, but if you plan on upgrading in the future, you might as well run 4 guage now....

Yajin
11-08-2007, 06:34 PM
i am gunna do 4 gauge but what about the fuses? how big are they my amp says 250 fuse

i was thinking http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8286865&productCategoryId=abcat0307006&type=product&tab=1&id=1172276905021#productdetail b/c i have the 500 watt 4 channel then the 450 watt mono

SilvrEclipse
11-08-2007, 06:53 PM
I think I run a 160amp fuse. You dont really need a 250amp fuse, thats a little over kill. Also I would never pay $120 for a damn wiring kit. I got mine from a Nortans stereo here, 4ga kit for like $40. If you need the wire split, you can buy a distribution box separately and then a short piece or 8ga. wire. You might have $60 in it by then.

Yajin
11-08-2007, 07:01 PM
$120 for 2 amps thats a 2 amp wiring kit so 60 bucks eatch and then i dont have to mess with it i just put it in

SilvrEclipse
11-08-2007, 07:20 PM
Do what you want man, I was just letting you know it could be done a good bit cheaper. But that kit would be the easiest way to go.

vanilla gorilla

If you got a true 500 watt amp I would run 4 gauge wire. For 4 gauge wire you need 150amp fuse

Yajin
11-09-2007, 07:14 AM
i got the Alpine MRP-F550 (http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Product/Item/Main.aspx?g=120&i=500MRPF550&tp=115) so i am pretty sure its putting out 500.

ok good i didnt want to have to buy a bigger fuse also 150 amp fuse comes with the kit

this is how much I spent on my system about 3-4 years ago

Pioneer HU:$200
2X 12' Xtant (hex series subs) $550 (both)
JL 300/4 $250
JL 500/1 $450
Optima (yellow top) $130

Total $1580

now, alot of you would say I got ripped off on a few of these, but back when I bought them this is how much they costed when you bought them at a car audio store.

Blackcrow,

you had mentioned in an earlier post about ebay, the thing with me was I didn't want to buy my stuff online cause at the time I didn't trust the internet/ebay on buying expensive electronics at the time. Also you don't get any other warrenty other then the crappy one the company gives you.

I have lost count of how much i've spent on my system. Over the past 4 years I've been through:

4 head units
2 amps
2 15s
2 12s
3 10s
8 tweeters
3 sets of door speakers (all around)
6 diff boxes
and dynamatt in the trunk

ohh and 2 batteries
and I'm not going to get started on wiring harnesses and amp wires...

so ill guess $235423293582395 bucks haha
