Hello, I was doing some preventive maintenance on my 1999 Malibu and I discovered a connector with a broken wire right on top of the oil filter, never noticed until now, oil was change a week ago may be they broke the wire but the car is performing well other than overheating if I do not turn the A/C On, look at the picture is kind of blury but it will give you an idea of what I am trying to say, if anyone out there knows the function of this connector please let me know, thanks.

Is the wire just hanging there and not going to another end? What does this screw into?

Yes the wire is hanging there about 2" long and it is connected to a sensor or something like that located just above the oil filter, I have no idea what this could be if you know please tell me I am going nuts here:banghead:

It is either an oil pressure sending unit, or a knock sensor...but it looks like it's connected by your pic...

On closer look at your pic, going to say a knock sensor...should set a check engine light with it disconnected.

Thanks you hit the jackpot! now I know what it is, the only problem now is to figure out where the end of that blue wire goes to it is broken, any ideas?
