poor heat performance

my mechanic tells me the older model vans are just cold.
89 grand voyager--3.0 L motor...front heat only, no rear heater
I want my heat to be decent this winter. I have tried
new thermostat (seems to be working good)
a few years ago they flushed the radiator core.
new blower motor this year.

I can get 160 degrees out of the duct with a probe thermometer on a 60 degree day... The big problem now it seems is the blower motor and lack of adequate air volume.

The blower motor growls and you have to tap it. It growls along and the actual volume of blown air seems whimpy compared to my 98 dodge.
This is an 89 model.
Someone has posted a very detailed guide to blower motors out there. But it doesn't go back that far.

From what I read, it sounds like my relay is going bad.

How can I find this relay? How can I test it to see if it is indeed the problem?

What might some other things be I could look at?

Probably the blower is just about shot , the bearings are probably going if its almost 20 years old . Probably have to replace the blower.

Do you have A/C and is it working. Years ago I disconnected the compressor in the winter time and got more heat.

The compressor only works in defrost mode or if you have the air conditioning on . Sounds like the blower motor which can be a big job on some cars . If the air flow is adequate then you are maybe looking at a blend door problem , neither a nice thought to work on this time of year ...
