Hi all,
Just thought I'd share my delight at picking up a couple of 'vintage' kits.
Got a Tamiya Ford Sierra XR4i and a Matchbox Ford Escort XR3. I couldn't believe the amount of detail in the Sierra, engine and everything...Tamiya quality at it's best. It was second hand, but as the previous owner started to brush paint the body, the guy sold it to me for £8!! The parts bags were not even opened!!
The Escort is an old Revell kit from 1992. Pretty basic, but it still has an engine. At £5, I can't complain.
I plan to build the Sierra from the box and the Escort, I am planning to update to a Series 2 RS turbo and possibly add a Cosworth wing and spoilers to it.
Alternative suggestions or comments welcome:D

Sounds interesting. I think I have some Escort Cosworth parts in my scrapbox. Have to look it up though, but if you're interested drop me a line and I'll look it up for you.;)

Good find! I didn't realise the XR4 had an engine! I would love to get my hands on one of the 'scorts and make a serious bodykit for it.

It seems to me that either the racing version, or the street version XR4 didn't have an engine. I built a street version once and used the turbo 4 cyl. from Monogram's Turbo Thunderbird from that era.:)

The XR4i road version has the engine, but the Texaco and Piumini Trampio race version did not.
I decided to build the XR4i box stock as I am already working on an RS500 as a road version.
Cheers for the offer huudo, I may take you up on it. Coming from a town of boy-racers, I want to do something on the Escort to emphasize that fact!! May pack out the trunk/boot with woofers and amps!!

Thanks for asking, but that model isn't in my collection, it was built for a friend about ten years ago. I would like to do another and update it to a later model XR4.:)
