Just remember: Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups. I won't say who I mean, but I think it's plain enough.
There will always be the little leg-humper who thinks his stock I4 is as great as a V8. That kid will also be the fool who thinks a Bazooka BassTube will give him a 1000 shot of "NAWS". You can't avoid them no matter how hard you try. Not to mention, most of the tuners who love what they do don't come online that often. They're too busy adding new toys and whatnot. ;) Just my $.02

well said saturntangerine!!!!
anyway...I think the ricer mentality is mainly coming from the youth that come and post here.
Give them time to grow up, and they will laugh at themselves the same way we laugh at them!!!

I'd say that their aren't to many ricers in here, but the ones that are, are very vocal. It just seems like a lot of them.

there are less ricers, and they shouldn't even be called ricers since it's not always asians that are doing it and it's not always japanese cars that are "riced" out. and young people don't always drive ricers. i don't.

since when does the term rice refer to asians or japanese cars?

I'd agree that "The Fast and the Furious" had some influence on the ricer scene. Take for instance how many people were calling it "nawws". Sometimes I wonder if these people even know if there are other companys that manufacture bottles of nitrous oxide. I bet sales at Nitrous Oxide Systems went up at least a little bit.

doin the "riced" out car isn't just the young although it seems that way....prime example...i pulled up to 7-11 and say this nice crx with this cool marble paint job with a superman emblem.......upon futher inspection i fould out that the marble paint job was really....wallpaper that he covered his entire car with.....i didn't believe it b/c he did an excellent job...but...wallpaper

I hate ricers. this weekend my friend and I seen one at our local mall. Yes his shit sounded like a angry bumble bee on a 100 degree day. So my friend(450HPviper) wanted me to ask him what he had under the hood and all he said was a Cool air intake. That what they all have. I want to race more so bad to show them things up.

they only call them ricers cuz the smell of the oil burning smells like burnt rice. that's y most honda's are your typical ricer. they're known for burning oil when they hit v-tec. even my friends brand new CL type-S.
how do u guys define a ricer? a japanese car? a car that burns oil? a car with mods?

I define a RICER as a person who buys a 4 cylinder car, does no mods other than an exhaust and a cold air intake and think there car can rip any V8 and WRX in a race. No matter how many times they get beat they will still come back for more with no pride about how they look to the real modified car scene. But i do not concider RICERS to be japanese cars, oil burner or a car with mods, my brother has a Lancer coupe with a 2 1/2 exhaust from cat back with 5 inch tip, evo 5 bodykit, lowered, 17 inch rims, light blue cruch leather with suede leather on the roof, a tv, 140.00db stereo. Now he does not go ou there racing people, especially the people with V8's or WRX's as he know for a fact that they are basically just going kick his ass. Watch a few Japanese performance car vids and then you will see what modifiers are like they are not RICERS, they have a hobby and they intend to keep it that way. Also go to a few car show that host old cars, and then you will see more real modifiers. All i ask is that everyone who reads this please be sure on your definition of a RICER, dont be going around calling everyone with a 4 cylinder a RICER as i think pleanty of 4 cylinder modifiers deserve more respect than that.
WE ARE ALL CAR LOVERS, WHETHER IT BE A 4 CYLINDER, 6 CYLINDER OR V8, A FEW MIGHT TRY TO PROVE THEY ARE BETTER THAN OTHERS BUT WHO CARES, CARS ARE CARS AND GENERATIONS HAVE CHANGED, BUT HAVE BEEN DOING THIS SORT OF THING SINCE BEFORE WE WERE BORN, DONT RUIN THE MODIFIED CAR SCENE WITH ALL YOUR BRANDING OF PEOPLE.
Thats my opinion, if you dont agree post that you dont with a reasonable explaination on why, otherwise dont waist my time.

a Maxima is in no way a rice burner- it contains the best V6 engine currently known to the mainstream market.
As for ricers- well bodykits are not rice, mag wheels are not rice, cold air intakes are not rice- Rice is an attitude- if you think your Honda with an intake and exhaust is going to rip apart a Skyline, Evolution or even a 156 2.5- then you are sorely mistaken- hence you are a "ricer" btw Rice is the dumbest name I've heard for a car- If a guy has a Probe or Chrysler who acts likea "Ricer" does that make him a Ricer- Rice is making reference to Jap cars- but Americana nd European cars are also guilty of it

I drive a Neon, not rice but I have been called a ricer before just for driving a compact. For the record I DO NOT THINK MY STOCK I-4 CAN BEAT A V-8. I am aware of this and I drive my four cylinder because I like it, not because it is the fastest car in the world. I am modifying my car to be fast, maybe faster than some V-8's (V-8 is a BIG generalization), but the main thing will always be the fact that I enjoy my car. I don't call it "NAWS", its nitrous, and I am quite well educated in automotives. I feel the term "ricer" refers to the people who have no knowledge about cars and believe that a coffee can muffler makes their car fast. My car does not sound like a bumble bee (not even an angry one). I think calling everyone with a four cylinder engine a "ricer" could be likened to us "four bangers" calling everyone with a V-8 a redneck.

I'm a ricer. My exhaust is very loud, and I don't like it. I call it rice everyday. I do not feel like an individual with it. I would feel like I would be an individual if I went back to stock. Still sounds better than 95% of low displacment I-4s with aftermarket exhaust though.

Some dual tipped "JKL" number that i stuck on the end of my 2 1/4" exhaust piping.
It sounds pretty deep, it's just so damn loud. From the cat, i go through a resonator, two bends, and then that muffler is like straight out.

It's really not that bad sounding, just loud as HELL. I want to be a bit more subtle sneaking over to my girlfriend's house late at night you know..?
It has off days, and on days. Sometimes it sounds really tinny, and sometimes it sounds really solid. Anyone know why this might be?

it depends on how humid it is outside and how warm it is. on a warm hot day it is prolly loud as hell and deep. on a cold day it prolly isn't quite as loud, but don't have that solid tone. Did you ever look through this muffler before? i'm wondering if your muffler hardly has any baffles inside it.

No baffles in the muffler itself, but the resonator is alright. I've grown accustomed to the loudness of it.
