This will be my new project. The Revell Audi R8.

http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/inhoud_004~8.jpg

Nice kit and good quality as far as I can see.

Im going to make it in a clean style, so I'll remove the numberplate holes and maybe more.

I also want to add new wheels because the Revell looks crappy.
http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/inhoud_005~8.jpg

I have 3 sets:

http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/inhoud_006~7.jpg
http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/inhoud_007~7.jpg
http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/inhoud_008~5.jpg

I think the first looks great on the car and the others a bit to 'wild' for this car.

I also want to make the exhausts like this one instead of the 4 round pipes
http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/upa2007-8-7-27402-bb_r8_350.jpg

The colour is not choosen yet but maybe it will be red or just something whole different. For sure I'm gonna use CF in interior en exterior like the sidepanel on the outside.

Yeah the sportec looks great I think but I haven't got them :P I'm not going to buy any wheels for a time because I have so many around here....
I'm going to a IPMS show the 24th so maybe I see a nice set of wheels but for now I'll use the first set.

Can't wait to start mine, but am so glad to see someone talented start off to help 'guide' the process. I personally like the second set of wheels...incidently, where could I pick those up? Good luck with the exhausts and can't wait to see this finished. :)

I like the second set of rims the best.

I like the 2nd set too! I think they suit the car nicely.

Nice, I've been waiting for this kit to come out for some time and for someone to build one here.

I have some ideas for what I would like to do for this kit but I would need to build 3 for the ideas that I have and with a price on HLJ of nearly $50 Im going to hold off for a bit.

I think the size of the stock wheels are ok, but the one thing that I have the most gripe about (along with some other Revell/AMT models) are they seem to have inner/outer wheel pieces that clamps the brake disc in between. From the picture shown above the inner wheel spokes are very visible and made the entire car look like a toy. Why can't Revell and AMT make their wheels like Tamiya/Fujimi's one piece design?:banghead:

Oops,Bump!

That looks great! I really like the second set,it makes the car look mean!

If you need some reference pics, just send me a PM! ;)

Although the Revell wheels are not the best (are they ever?), I would stick with them. Maybe add a small .05mm strip of styrene to the rims and then aftermarket tires from any of those wheels you have pictured. De-chrome them and stick with those. I'll bet they would look way better?!

Damn I want this model now, especially after seeing the Top Gear video.

the guy at my lhs is building one he dechromed them then painted them with testors metalizers and they look 50 times better

This is one of my favorite cars of all time and I was really excited to hear about it coming out in model form. I'll be looking forward to watching you build it and see how it turns out.

Today I finished the rearbumper. I cleaned it and after that I painted the body TS-46 Dark Mica Blue

I'm not sure if I'm going to carbonize the panel or add aluminium on it....

Nice color!, I just saw one in this color (or similar) in the workshop with the CF treatment, and looks great.
For the "Blade" (The name Audi gave to this panel) I think Aluminum would make a good contrast with that gorgeous color.

Keep up posted...

energon

with the darker color the aluminum would look good, but then you can never go wrong with carbon either. It's looking great!!

AAAAAAAA, it hurts! This car is sooo beautiful, just like your model! The color is perfect, so do the rims, and I advise you to go with the silver sideblade as that matches this exterior color! Can't wait to see it finished, just as to get mine delivered and get my hands on it! :)

Have you decided the interior color yet? Audi offers a brown/black interior, that might be nice with the exterior, if you need pics, pm me!

These days I worked on the r8's

First I had to decide if I'll use carbon or BMF on the sideblade. After a while I decided to add BMF on it and I'm very happy with the result. It's great with this colour :)

But I also wanted some striping or something on the sides. Some striping decals came with the wheels and I added them on both sides which looks great in my eyes.

After that I clearcoated the body 3 times.

http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/carbon_003~1.jpg

I also wanted to change the 4 small round exhaust-tips for 2 bigger ovall tips.
I made them from alu tube.

and a dryfit
http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/carbon_006~0.jpg

Don't think the rearbumper was'nt ready before painting... I think it's a reflection from something.... btw the bumper is smooth :)
http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/carbon_007.jpg

I also carbonized the enginebay and enginecover for this r8. This time I used CrazyModeller carbondecals.

Engine bay looks fantastic and I love the work on the exhausts. Really liking the colour choice and how the bmf contrasts it nicely. Can't wait to see more of this.

Exhaust-tips and colour are looking great! Very clean paint. I only dislike your wheel choice, or maybe it is just the chrome on them.

I also did a lot on this R8

First the engine. I also placed the firewall into the enginebay.

That color is the perfect color for that car and the wheels look awsome on it. Even though the original wheels are too small for the car, they would look the best on it if you could give them a larger diameter. Nice work.

Great work! Really realistic, the weels fit perfectly on the R8 and the Project Kahn exhausts too! I'm looking forward to the interior! Keep up the good work.

this is one awesome car, i dont think ive seen a car before where ive wanted to look at it again and think, wait, thats not ferrari or lambo... wtf!

Last days I worked hard on the interior.

I painted it blue/black but it wasn't nice with the bodycolour.

I repainted it in black and brown with aluminium details and a creme coloured carpet.

I placed a Playboy magazine on the dash also.

The kit is oke for me. Not a bad model. I only hate the stock rideheigth. If you use other bigger rims it's oke but with the stock wheels (see my other R8) it looks like a 4x4 car :D

I also had some problems to fit the chassis on the body. But with a lot of good glue it can be solved.

BTW. the car is almost finished. I only have to add the frontwheels and the decals on all rims :)
