95 Jetta III (Need Help)

Ok so I have a 1995 Jetta III. So the thing is everytime time you turn the ignition on, my headlights turn on so do the taillights and the bumper lights. I know its not a problem but why would you want to have your headlights and etc on in midday when you are driving? So my question is, is there anyway you can turn it off?

When I pull the E-Brake and the car is on, the headlighs dont work only the bumper lights and the tailights, I dont really know how to turn it off.

So once again, can you turn the lights off so it wont be on when the car starts.

Thanks.

I don't have the schematics for the 95. I wouldn't try to do it without them. You'll probably end up cutting one of the wires in your ignition harness, I'd hate to cut the wrong one.

What does "schematics" mean?

This a volkswagon feature - daylight running lights. It is supposed to work that way. (Running lights in the daytime is a safety feature)

I myself don't like them. Mine comes on cloudy or low light days. That to me indicates there is a light sensor controlling their operation. If I could find it, I'd disable it there. Alternately, the only other way I can think of disabling them would be to take apart the emergency brake and disconnect the right wire that controls them.
