Hello all,
While analyzing my fuel problem, We removed the trunk port covering the fuel pump probably for the first time in the life of my 1995 Aurora with 260,000 + miles. I never did need to pull the pump but in cleaning down to the ring we kept removing big chunks of rust that were once metal important to keep the holding ring in place. It has weakened the integrity of the system with no easy fix.
Had I bought the car new maybe this would not have occured but all I can do now is warn fellow owners to put cleaning and rust prevention under that plate as part of a yearly maintanence program.
Good driving.
