engine swap possible..?

i have a 1992 VR4..anybody know if its possible to do a skyline RB20, RB25, RB26, or SR20 engine swap?..i know i would have to do tranny work, but im just curious as to if the swap would fit..thanxx in advance

Yes it will fit, you will need a saw, and a welder

PLAZMA TORCH would help out to.. man I wish i would have thought about that when i was building my motor.. cause the 2.0 strate 6 would make way more power them my shity 3.0 v6 and I would deffenetly get a bunch of stickers.. i lover stickers.. and if I was going to do that swap I would deffenetly add a AEM sticker and a NO2 sticker! no one would even see me coming..

honostly i dont think a rb26dett would fit...not enough room for the plumbing and the length of engine. but if u wanna try...do tell when u finish

for all the work it wouldnt be worth it. Why would you want to anyway? the 6g72 can easily hit 600hp on stock internals...spend the time and money on a turbo upgrade and supporting mods.

It would never be worth the work involved unless you have tons of money and time lying around and just want to do something different. but you would have major issues and prob even have to custom the front end. and youd end up with the same qualities of the origional engine imo.

i do...thats honostly my first mess up involving the skyline. i owned an r32 for a lil while b4 my stealth. yea the sr is in the silvia. eh everyone makes mistakes. and i know mostly only the gtrs...below that, not so much.

wow leave man just go and never turn back :screwy: ok jk but dude trust me thats what i did to my 99 vr4s. i was like who buys mitsus and leaves in a mitsu engine it, people should just take all the mitsu engines out and put a engine in that gives out the same numbers. i mean it makes sense right, putting a lot of money and work in to the car and have no gains at all. It's cool because if i ever wanted to mod my car i would have to make it all coustom to fit on the 3000Gt and on the motor, or i can just pay a shit load of money to have some shop do it for me. and my sr20 engine in my vr4 it sounds sooo much better the the 3.0 v6 tt engine i had in my car before and the performance is just insane.

now that i see i'm not alone with the rb and sr swap i think i'm going to throw in some k20s in my 95 vr4 spyders. :banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

he mentioned the SR20 as well if you look at the original post...

but anyways...people need to realize, yes nissan makes some great engines, like the RB's, but that doesnt mean theyre great for every application. Would you put one in a viper??? or a nissan titan??? Just like you wouldnt want to put a small block in an RX-7. great engine, just not a good application.

trust me man...even if you have the time, money, and fabrication skills to make this work, all it will do is hurt the performance of the car.

if you really really want it bad...have you considered buying a 240sx instead? much easier in the long run.

stock GTO(VR-4) drags stock GT-R...and wins...proof that theres plenty of potential for the 6g72.

im not saying that the skyline isnt an amazing car with an amazing engline...but people really dont give the 3kgt the credit it deserves.

no, he does not have an sr20 in his vr4, he was just making fun of the idea. as I said on the thread in the 240 forum, it wouldnt cause anything but trouble in a 3s, not to mention the fact that they would be hard pressed to make more power than the engine you alerady have in, and since your already a vr4 think of all the things youd have to get rid of, just not logical

again, like i say int the 240 forum, if you want to do something crazy with a nissan engine then put a rb25 into a miata, fiero, or celica, i think it would be awsome to have it in a fiero, or even an sr20 in there.

Assuming you are talking about a small block v8, probably a SBC
Wrong, a small block in an rx-7 is IMO the best swap available for the car, and is very very popular, especially the LS1's
