Blower motor resistor and wiper position question

Hi, I was just wondering if anyone has ever tried to repair the blower motor resistor? I'm not talking about changing the whole thing, I just was wondering if you can maybe change the resistors on the thing instead of replacing the whole thing?

Also, does anyone know how you adjust how far the wipers travel out toward the edge of the windwhield? I just fixed the motor in my van (the wipers were only working on high so I took the motor off and took it apart, one of the diodes in there needed to be resoldered, they now work on all speeds) and I adjusted how you're supposed to (turn the key to accy and turn the wipers to pulse, when the motor stops turn the key off and install the crank arm with 4-8 millimeters gap between the V and the "stop" thing) but the drivers side wiper is going too far, the tip of it is going off of the windshield. The passenger side is in the right position just not the drivers side. I was gonna just take the drivers side wiper arm off and position it a couple of teeth different but I was wondering about setting that gap on the crank arm differently. Does anyone know if you increase that gap if it affects how far the wipers travel? Or do you know how you're supposed to fix or adjust how far the wipers travel?

Any help at all is greatly appreciated. Especially with the wipers.

Thanks a lot.

I've only fixed a blower motor resistor when one of the support legs vibrated loose and broke, that I could resolder. The resistors themselves are heavy-duty open-air wirewound units and are not easily found. Easiest thing is to go buy the replacement resistor module.

Yep, I had to resolder my Chevy pickup wiper motor board, too. Easy fix.

Have never considered retiming the internals of the motor assembly. When I've needed to reposition the arms, I've just removed them from the splined posts below the windshield and moved them a couple notches to get them where they needed to be.
