just curious what do you think i should replace when doing the d16y8 head swap???

well...being you have the si...do the timing belt and head gasket obviously...good choice on the y8 atleast your dizzy will bolt up....if you have the resources...do everything that you can to the head while its out...I did the z6 head and after a few minor bugs it runs strong

id do it all. timing belt, water pump, thermo stat and gasket, new drive belts ...but thats my opinion...

he's right seeing how you're already in there and got the crank pulley off and its all apart you should do everything......my water pump was missing a bolt when I went and did my head swap...haha...but the bolts that hold on the timing belt cover are the same and I have lots of those..you could see where it had been leaking....

As for what I would replace during the head swap:
Thermostat
Water Pump
Timing belt obviously
Valve cover gasket and spark plug tube seals
Distributor cap and rotor
Head gasket
Alternator belt
Check the front main seal for leaking oil(behind crank pulley)
Spark plugs and wires

Will the Si dizzy bolt up to the D16Y8 head? I didn't think it would, but even if it does, you won't have all the sensors you need right? I was curious though, since I may need to buy a new dizzy for my z6, could I just buy a y8 one and install it, but not hook up the OBD2 sensors (so that I don't have to buy one for the z6 and then buy one for the y8)?

i have an a6 dizzy on my y8 block.
most important mike...you keep the same dizzy with ecu. so either a6 dizzy & pm6 ecu OR the p28 and the z6. we've tried mixing and matching several parts. the one thing we learned is you can't mix dizzy's and ecu's.
