hey guys..i just bought a 2000 trans am ws6..its 6 speed...has all the bells and whistles..i live in mass..and its just starting to get cold out..and every morning my car has trouble starting..like it cranks but wont turn over..sometimes if i give it gas it will turn over..but its completly random..the car has only 34000 miles on it..the car did not do it when i first bought it a few weeks ago..i first noticed it when i had took the battery out to make a cover for it..then it started..i also had just put a k&n intake system on it..any ideas what the problem could be..please help thanks

Did you elimnate any sensors mainly the intake air temp sensor with the intake addition?
Also, pressing the accelerator on a EFI actually shuts off the injectors, flood mode.

no i didnt eliminate any sensors..the air intake one is plugged in to the filter..maybe it broke in the install though? is that a possiblity? i to thought it could be sensor related..that or battery..or randomly the started went or something???

By you saying that if you press the accelerator and it starts I am thinking the intake sensor is not registering for whatever reason in wich the PCM goes rich, hence lack of injector firing and then it starts.

ok to update everyone on the situation..i replaced the air temperature sensor with a brand new one..only 12$..it didnt solve the problem..i also while i was at it..cleaned the throttle position sensor, which looked brand new..and also the sensor that is above it..i dont know what that is really..so all is clean and plugged in but still not working right..its just so wierd cuz its a random hit or miss if it will start or not..sometimes it starts no problems at all..and others it wont start at all whether or not if im hitting the gas..so does anyone have any other ideas..could it be something dumb like maybe spark plugs..or wires..or the battery..anything..its just stupid embarrasing when you have a nice car like this one..and it doesnt start right up! any feeback is MUCH appreciated!

thats wierd..and you didnt change any things to attempt to fix it..just did it on its own? my car started fine this morning..maybe the new sensor takes a while to start working? ill probly change my spark plugs still..maybe throttle position sensor also..ill pick up a book today on my car and check out specs for things and test voltage and ohms and what not..i also have a skip shift eliminator..think that is some how related???

Weird that it started just after pulling the battery, I'd start by making sure your getting good contacts on the battery ... start with the simple things. Next I'd take the car to autozone & have the computer scanned for free ... you didn't mention any lights coming on, but if its a bad sensor it should show up on the computer! Last check your fuel pressure, could be a dirty fuel filter not allowing enough pressure, hence the long cranking till it fires up. Last thing that wasn't clear, is the engine constantly turning over when you try to start it? What I'm getting at here is you could have a problem with your starter or clutch safety switch if the starter cuts out. Good luck & I hope something I said might help lead you to the problem.

well i just changed my spark plugs..btw..omg!!! no room to work with in there..over 2 hrs to do that..but i dont think it worked..ya but the battery gets good voltage all the time..and has good connections..ive checked many times..fuel filter was something i had thought of too..but the car will continue to crank until i stop..cant be starter..anything think its a sensor of any sort? throttle position sensor maybe? thanks guys all the feedback is eliminating many things..

and oh yeah..there isnt a check engine light or anything..i kinda wish there was..so i would know the problem..well the spark plugs didnt fix it cuz it didnt start right away this morning..i did buy a fuel filter last night though..will install it today..stuff that cost under 10$ is worth changing anyways..but for the meantime..does anyone else have any ideas???

well i did the fuel filter and everytime since the car has started fine..so im hoping that did it..but i did also buy some 8.5 msd wires, but i wanted those anyways..i was thinking about maybe changing the throttle position sensor..ill check it with a volt meter today..

well guess what? car started acting up today..2 days of starting right up then today its having problems agian!!! so far..ive changed spark plugs, fuel filter, air temperature sensor, and i have a throttle position sensor and new msd wires on the way, again..the symptoms of the car are not starting right up..car drives fine..no issues once started but it just hesitates to start..but not all the time..only sometimes and random times at that! ive checked fuses, hoses, sensors, what could it be????
