Stalls and Will Not Start???

Hello and thanks for taking time to read this.

Having a starting problem with my 96 rodeo LS 3.2 automatic, 60,000miles. Will start first thing in morning, but after driving and turning engine off it will not start back up again for a couple of hours.

Last code I got was P0337 cpk sensor low input.
Went to used parts lot and replaced with same part and still record same code. Possibly both are bad.

Would this cause a no start after driving, and it also stalls while driving some times. And is very difficult to restart.

Battery voltage in 12.5 v
Alternator output in 14.14 v

Also when attempting to start it will turn over and the check transmission light will come on but no code.

Checked for spark and it does have it.

Fuel pressure at schraeder valve is 42-44 lbs.

Any help would be appreciated!!!

Dave

Your fuel pressure seems to be too high. A vacuum leak would cause this, but most likely a bad fuel pressure regulator may be the culprit. A bad FPR would would account for hard starting and stalling.

Thanks Anthonyn for a direction to go.

Went out and rechecked pressure, still 42-44, according to Haynes manual it should be between 42-55 psi, pulled the vaccum hose and it shot up to 50 as it was supposed to.

If any other information is needed i will do my best to get it.

Thanks again

Dave

My Haynes manual (Isuzu Rodeo & Amigo Honda Passport 1989 thru 1997 all models) says:

Fuel system pressure (at idle)
3.2L Engine
Vacuum Hose attached 25 to 30 psi
Vacuum Hose detached 30 to 38 psi

maybe someone else can chime in on what the correct fuel pressure should be. Haynes doesn't always get it right.

Hello,

Thanks again,

My Haynes Manuel (89-02 Rodeo & Passport all models)
1996 and on 3.2L 42-55 psi

Is there another direction I should be looking or am I out of luck.

Thanks

Dave

Could need a new air filter, or may have something clogging the air line. I have a k&n filter in mine and it has the same problem when it needs to be cleaned.
It also could be a bad cataltic converter or something clogging the exhaust. Usually when theres a problem with the exhaust the car runs bad when it warms up.

When I read the title of the post I immediately thought CPK. The code seems to verify this. Check the wiring before replacing it again. I think your symptoms are consistent with a CPK failure.
