Drawing Wheels *explained*

Ok, after many problems im writing this into Word, then c+ping it into a new topic :P

Start off with an ellipse, and find the centre of the wheel, not the ellipse. Its a little further in than the ellipse.

Then, decide on how many spokes it will have, and draw, as well proportioned as you can, a star shape of lines.

So, now you have the guidelines for your rim, we shall actually start to draw the wheel itself.
Draw the lines, depending on how thick, for the spokes themselves. They are like curves in the blank spaces next to your "star" lines.
Also, draw in another background curve. this should be the same curve as your ellipse, except further back, this sets the width of your wheel.

I defined the lines using a black pen, to make the next steps clearer.
I drew on a chrome centre cap.

Next, to draw the brake disc.

Add some shadow from the spokes to the disc, to give the drawing more depth and realism. Also, if needed, add drilled vent holes to the disc.

Add some shading to the wheel, and draw your car around it, and there you go!

You can also use the last pic to show how 5 minutes work on a wheel compares to almost no time, the finish really helps bring your drawing to life!

Any Questions?
