Hi, My daughter has a 1994 maxima that need to have the drivers side front axle replaced. I want to do it myself. Can anyone help me with any advice and the difficulity of the job. Thank you - Dennis

Drivers side is easier. From what Ive heard, getting the right replacement axle is a problem; there are 'five' types which seem to fit, some cause problems at installation or later. Somehow verify that you have the exact equal replacement spare (or buy from stealership). I replaced boots, heres a writeup. Check it -and- also follow the links: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/748507/25

driver side is the easiest of sides. After taking wheel off, take cotter pin off axle and remove axle nut ( 36MM ) If you do not have an impact gun, Then breaker bar it with wheel on. Then after axle nut is off take 17mm bolt and nut off the strut. After bolts are out and knuckle is free from strut. Push axle threw knuckle while pulling axle away. pull forward away from rack. After axle is free from knuckle pry bar axle out of trans. When reinstalling watch axle seal, and best turn the axle while taping it back in ( use axle nut and thread in till top of nut is flush to top of axle so threads don't get damaged or mushroomed. I use a rubber mallet. after axle is seated, in reverse order of disassembly
