ok guys...got a new crx...have a 88 dx and now got a 90 si...

well i puty a 200a HO Alt on my Si and it has a external reg so i can adjust the voltage level because i use it for stereo comps. well now since i have that alt it doesnt have a place to hook the pin into it as the factory one did...well rick the owner of HO ALTS said no problem, it wont effect anything...
well here is the prob, my speedometer doesnt work so how do i fix this??

second questions is that, when i take off my si acts like wierd at times...
it will bog down and then when i let off the gas alittle bit, it acts fine..then i hit the gas again it bogs again... this problem only happens sometimes but then other times i does it CONSTANTLY... anyone had this prob?

idk about yall...but i cant go anywhere else and get answers as fast and as good as yall's so THANX in advance...

Check the fuel filter and the fuel coming out, could be bad gas, or its had bad gas in the past and the sock on the end of the pump is stopped up....seen it a bunch of times(mostly likely your problem Nick considering what your brakes look like)

OH SHUT IT! :P

I'm pretty sure now that you say that, that it's because it's running on 4 year old gas... (yes the original gas from when it was parked... and then rusted)

holy hell man, get that stuff out of there asap!

As for the speedo, that is cable driven, not electric. Check behind your cluster and make sure the cable is pushed in all the way and thats its turning when the car is moving, if its not hen either the cable broke or it came out of the drive unit located on the top/back of the transmission just below the intake manifold, you can see the cable coming out of the firewall.

Thats your problem then Nick, need to drain that gas and replace or clean the sock on the fuel pump...I would replace it, but cleaning it will work.

Bah... I'll wait till I have the money to replace the engine first... then I'll do that..
As it is right now... I only start it for like 5 minute intervals ever couple days/weeks... just to move it around. It's almost out of gas anyways...

+2 on speedo cable, take it out, put a drill on the end of it, spin it up one way, watch the gauge... if it doesn't work, spin it the other way, and watch the gauge... IF IT DOESN'T WORK STILL, THAT DOESN'T MEAN IT'S BROKEN... You'll have to pull the gauge panel anyway, to check it, so before replacing it, inspect the gauge end, and make sure it's completely engaged.

As far as bogging down, clean out your TB, make sure your fuel/air filters are clean, take the fuel pump out, clean/replace it. Bogging occurs at WOT B/C you're 1. not getting enough fuel. or 2. getting more fuel than air (based on the ratio)... and unless your air filter is SERIOUSLY plugged, you're not getting more fuel than air.

I removed my filter... (it was oil clogged paper.. wasn't even a filter anymore!)

any reason why my filter was FULL of oil?

I'm running it on intake alone without filter (I don't care what happens to the motor... it's getting replaced) and the response time and power have doubled.

remove PCV valve, back flush it w/ carb cleaner, unless you just wanna buy a new one.. check/clean/replace the filter box on the back of the engine... those two things are what causes oil to backup into the intake... also robs power like crazy.
