Killed a GLI

This actually happened yesterday around one-ish, but I was to busy playing Tokyo Extreme Racer and setting up some ghost riding to post it. I've noticed one thing about the video game world...the Toyota Supra handles worse than a dead rhino, no matter what game your playing.

I digress.

I was heading home from lunch, taking the more scenic route as I tend to do now, when a black GLI (the new body style) came swinging out in front of me. No biggy, probably just some chick as they tend to be around here. At the next light I was next to/in front of them and saw nope, two guys. I get a bit in front of them, and they get behind me in my lane and stay pretty close for a bit. Come up to another light, I'm first in line, and I can hear them revving it. Ok then...

I roll off the line nice and easy, and I'm across the intersection, still in first, when the driver of the V Dub stands on it, spins a bit, and takes off. Right. I step on it, no lift into second, hit third around 5500 and pretty much have them falling back. He pulls up next to me at the next light, compliments me on my ability to break the front loose through second and third shifts (because thats soooo difficult in a front driver), and says my car is pretty quick. I ask him what he has done, and he said just a Nuespeed intake.

So we cruise a bit behind traffic, right next to each other, looking for a good open place to punch it. As soon as traffic clears, I shift down to third at 50, punch it...

And hit fuel cut. Fuck.

Short it into fourth, and decide might as well use all of it. By now he's about two lengths up, I cut that fast, and pull him in by 70. Stay hard on it, put a few more lengths on him by 100, shift to fifth, shut down about 110/115, not quite sure how far back he was but it was pretty far. He comes up next to me, thumbs up and a wave, and I swing back around to head home.

Good race all around, and glad to see they weren't little rice boys who were gonna throw a bitch fit after I won.

That makes the Wild Child three and oh...

Nice kill man. Keep that record going. I should be heading down to texas early next year. We should meet up and have a go once I have a few things done. You would kick my ass right now. Had it done this morning by one of your brothers. Lol

Yeah, we tend to be quick like that, lol. I'm still just upset that I can't set something up with an SRT owner.

Anyways, if your in the DFW area, just send me a heads up. Of course, by next summer, I should have at least the intake and exhaust (at least a down pipe and mid pipe), and maybe the PnP if there is one out by then.

God man, you must hate your short gears. That is the only thing that bugs me with the MS3, I love everything else about the car.

Gearing doesn't bother me yet, so far I haven't had any problems with it. I mean, with the traction and stability control off, there is no reason for me to even try and shoot out of first or second. Hell, with it on, I still spin them when I punch it low in second.

Good kill. I was always partial to the mkIV GLI over the newer mkV. The new ones just look too much like a Toyota.

I would be interested to see how you would do against a chipped mkV GTI as those should be putting down pretty similar numbers to you.

Could it possibly be due to the 215 bicycle tires that come stock?
