98 weatherstrip

i have a 1998 sebring lxi coupe, has no fram around the window.... when i bought it i saw that there was a gap between the window and weather strip when the door was closed water would leak in.. bought new weather strip and it seals it good now but when i put the window down then back up the gap is there so i have to open my door and close it then its sealed... any ideas? can it just be the window?
