Transmission fluid in coolant

My daughter has a 94 Olds Cutlass Cierra with the V-6. I noticed that the coolant overflow was red! I opened the cap and the fluid at the top of the radiator was red also.
I fugured that that radiator had sprung a leak for the transmission cooling. However, when I drained the coolant, it was red only on the side of the radiator where it tranny lines went in.
I'm figuring that the tranny fluid only leaked in when the engine got hot and rose right to the resevoir.
Has this happened to anyone else?

Sounds like the trans cooler in the rad. failed get a new rad and do a thorough job of flushing the cooling system, check the trans also.

Are ya sure its not Dex-cool coolant which is red?

Positive about it not being Dex-col. Replacement of the radiator took care of the problem. Luckily the trans fluid was pure (no foreign substance in it).
Now on to the next problem - leaking intake gasket!

Check out the coolant leak, 94 3.1's did not exhibit this problem like the newer 3100's.
