Weatherstripping

I;ve been having numbers of leaks in my car recently. I believe the problem is the weatherstripping on the driver and passenger doors are dried out or worn out and dont seal anymore. This has caused another pain in the a$$ problem where the water seaps under the carpet and soaks into the insulation they put in these cars from the factory. The problem with this is that the water will basically sit there and eventually rust out the whole floor if not attended to. So unless someone knows where to get this weatherstripping, im gunna look like a hillbilly putting blue tarps on my car when it rains.

Auto parts stores should sell weatherstripping specifically for your car, at least they do in my area. It's kind of expensive though unless you but the cheap, generic rolls. Doors don't typically leak into the passenger compartment though even with heavily worn weatherstripping, unless the wind is blowing the rain right into the face of the door. On a dry day spray your car heavily all over with water and try to find where the leak is coming from. A more common area to leak is the windshield. Water will leak through, and run down the inside all the way down to the floor. Come to think of it, my first Caprice had a leak in the passenger side of the windshield. I noticed the carpet getting wet during rain, but didn't know where it was coming from until one day I saw some water on the kick panel where the ECM is held. I followed the moisture up to the windshiled. Some good cleaning and a bead of silicon behind the windshield trim fixed that right up.
Anyway, my advice is to find where the leak specifically is before you spend time and money on what you guess it might be.

yeah thanks, i guess my grandma had good taste when she went to go repaint her car, lol. but anyway i think you're right about the windshield leaking. I looked around the edges of the windshield and to me its as if the whole thing needs to be replaced. I dont know if this would be normal "it probably isnt" but i can see a greenish mold kind of substance around the whole length of windshield gasket mainly at the bottom as if the water sits there and turns to mold. From there i thikn the water leaks behind the dash cause the whole front floor compartment to get wet. I dont believe the windshield has been replaced before and i'd think after sitting there for 24 years it may be replaced. "Whenever it rains it looks like a hobo is sleeping in my car because of the condensation that covers all the windows from the rain leaking in."

So in the midst of all my rambling on, you're probably right about the windshield and thanks for your help.
