Good day everyone,
I have a 96 JETTA GLIII that has about 98K on it. The Airbag light was on since last Monday. I plug in the OBDII scanner but there is no code.
Is there anyone has the same situation. Please let me now how to turn it off besides took away the light blub.
If there is no way to turn it off except replaced with a new Airbag, I will deal with it and let it on forever.
Thanks,
Yours truly,

Hey Powerup:
Your vehicle has 4 major airbag components in it, 2 airbags, a control unit & a clockspring. Any of those or the wiring between them could cause your light to come on.
The best advice for you is to get it to a tech that has an AIRBAG scanner, which is different than an OBD II scanner, get the codes and then you will know what the damage could be.
There are codes in there, but you need the right equipment to read them. the scanners at plalces like Autozone do not cover ABS or Airbag, only PCM and check engine data
I hope this helps you

Good evening Dugan50,
Thanks your idea.
It seems I need to send this Jetta to have the Specialist to take a look at it.
According to your experience, if I leave the light on, will the Airbag be pop up or not when crash.
Thanks,

With all vehicles, when the warning light is illuminated, the system will NOT work properly. If the airbag light is on while driving, and you are in an accident, the airbags will not deploy.
