Conic air flow filter

I just bought a 1997 jetta I just had it serviced, they changed fluids, everything was working fine until I changed the stock air filter for a conic air one, the engine light turned on.

In the cover of the filter (the black cover) they were two like hose one goes to the engine and the other under the air filter, I had to eliminate the cover, what can i do to eliminate the light and to keep the conic filter, cause sincerely i love the way it sounds,
