Just noticed this on the cabin of my Evo6, any suggestions on how to fix it? I'm talking about the jagged looking hole...I'm guessing putty is the most likely solution...

PS Progress pics of this thing will be up soon :)

What are you talking about? That's for aerodynamic stability. I sure wish someone made Type R decals. :lol2: :lol2:

Dont fill the holes, make more of them all over the model, then you will have quite a lot of:

aerodynamic stability

While your at it, put some in the fuel lines, the intake and in that damn heavy radiator.

Then the car will be super fast!!! :D

Try covering the inside with masking tape and using a 2 part clear Epoxy (two tubes, one plunger arrangement, sold at Wal-Mart/hardware stores, etc) to fill the missing portion from the bottom.

When the Epoxy has hardened (I use 5 Minute) peel away the masking tape and then use a thin coat of putty if needed (but primer usually covers the problem).

I know, but it makes them a bit more difficult to build, when they don't have the holes they should have... :finger: :finger: :finger:

At least in all of my Revell kits...

Can someone with a WRC version of this kit remember if this hole has a purpose??

Um ... why not check the instructions?

Because I don't have the instructions for a WRC Evo, only the road car version. :)

The hole seems to have no purpose there.

Well, I have the WRC Evo, and it don't have a hole there.
perhaps now would be a good time to get onto Tamiya in NZ and see what they can tell you.
BTW, I think the instructions question was about the ones for the kit, not the Evo WRC.
And who suggested Walmart to a Kiwi? hmmm.....

Maybe, but that would surprise me, since what's the point of asking about that hole without even checking the instructions? ;) :D

I don't think any of us would do that :sun:

It doesn't seem to line with anything on the floorpan...and it seems to jagged and random to be necessary...

Oh well, bring on the putty then..

PS anyone have suggestions on lowering the back end of this thing? I've done the front but the back looks like its going to be a biznatch...

Toksin,
Why putty it up?
E-mail your photo to Tamiya or the local Tamiya people and ask them for an explanation before you do anything to it.
Or take it to the local hobby shop and ask, if you didn't get it there, you're still not obligated to tell them.....
They should at least send you a new floor pan if it is indeed a mold issue.
I realise what you are saying about the instructions, it was just a thought, but like I said, I have the Evo WRC and there is no hole there, at all.

Maybe Evo VI WRC has a different chassis than Evo V WRC, then? Anybody with that kit? (24220)

freakray: It's too much effort man :p It's summer and I just can't be bothered...I'll just putty it up...no hassle...it definately doesn't look like it belongs there...like I said too jagged...

Don't fix it, just request a new part, the kit is obviously defective...

Mystery solved?

I did some dry fitting, and noticed that the hole might have a purpose after all (kinda). The right front seat wouldn't fit without this hole, at least in my kit.

I still think that Tamiya could have handled this problem without making a HOLE...

Maybe it's a defect in all the evo kits of the same kind as yours.

My kit has an identical hole. The chassis is from the rally kit, and if a thick interior tub is fitted, there'd have been no room for the seat. It's there to accept the steet version seat, and it won't be so noticable when the seat is placed. Replacement part will have the same hole.
