Car Running!!

After a month of trying to get the fuel line back and upgrading to SS and ordering wrong parts... I finally got everything in today and installed. I don't have any pics, but it's SS line with blue/red fittings. Original I know. Plus they're scratched up and covered in Teflon paste. I took her for a test drive and not a single leak! This was the first time being able to hit the gas since the accident. So first time without A/C and the CF hood, better radiator and such. I love it.

Idle did kinda suck. I'm thinking because the ECU been unplugged for months that all the setting were whipped clean and the SAFC was trying to do stuff while the car was trying to reprogram itself. Idling like a v8 for awhile. Adjusted fuel up a little, and then was idling at 2k until I came to a complete stop. Everything is plugged in so I'm not sure. Still going to drive and let it reprogram.

I missed her mucho!

I think it should get fixed. Just have to drive it again. Also have to check some wires. When I did the head swap a wire loom with the TPS and IAC wires was touching the EGR pipe and melts the loom and some insulator and was shorting out, causing my idle to be way high. Just have to make sure those are out of way again. Probably should fix those one day.

And of course next problem... exhaust rattles even worse now. WTF!

What part of the exhaust rattles? Is it hitting something? I just took my EGR pipe off and made some block off plates. That damn thing almost melted all the way through my amp power cable. I do get a CEL but I can live with that.

It's by the cat. I think its the actual heat shield underneath welded onto the chassis. It's annoying.

You just need to get under there and use some force. You have to show it whose boss.. lol

Ya, but to what? I believe it's the heat shield hitting the car. The exhaust is clear from everything. It gets close around the first curve going toward the wheel but I got header wrap around that section. Where the noise is coming from there is no touch-age action of exhaust pipe. So I don't know where to begin with that then just taking off the exhaust and pulling the heat shield.

Does it rattle when the car is just running or when you hit bumps in the road? You should be able to get under there and beat on a few things and find it.

AH high tech DSM fixes...lol...mine had a horibble rattling problem too, but all i did was retighten the ties holding the exhaust onto the car

Again, it's not the exhaust itself. Everything is solid exhaust-wise.

It happens all the time. Bumps wouldn't be bad. I can get it to rattle at 2200rpm and then random pretty much anywhere above that. Doesn't have to be moving or anything.

Hm...the best thing besides eing able to poke around and find it would be mass amounts of duc tape...but thats just impractical...good luck on your search

Ya I don't duct-tape my car unless I, oh I don't know... blew an IC pipe off while driving. But that doesn't happen, mostly because I don't have IC pipes. Anywho...

The thing is, I can't find it unless the car is on, and then it's hot as hell under there. I really should suck it up and stick my face under there one day.

Yes, my avatar is pretty sweet. It's like porn.. great to look at, better in person :iceslolan

Might want to carry some duck tape anyways, you never know man. The whole damn intake might fall off. LMAO

Dave I think I see a polished intake manifold, is that a stock one you just polished or is it aftermarket?

It's a stocker, ported out and ceramic coated. It's dirty right now so it doesn't look that shiny... but just needs a wipe down.

So the surface hasn't been grinded down and smoothed out?

Nope. Hot tanked (twice actually), then ceramic coated. Comes out with a pretty smooth finish. Looks up close like chrome.

I think so. I'll work on it tomorrow and see what's going on down there.

And a bad pic...

Fuel filter, Gauge adapter and sender unit and -6an SS line. I wanted to get a new fuel filter to (like "performance filters") but I didn't. The filter itself there is pretty new anyways. And yes, my fittings are chewed up because I used a vice and pliers and teflon paste is all over the place. AND, that pics shows dirty down below. Don't judge ;)

And for the IM, here's more pics of it. Comeon now I've had this thing on for months now. lol

I had a similar problem with my exhaust on my 95. I just bent the shit out of that thin metal shield to get it to stop.

Careful sticking your head under there...we dont want any stories of a nice tube shaped burn across the face...hopefully you just have to bend it like defiancy...

O and I decided to cut the motor mounts out of my car and use duct tape, great stuff
