Coolant Leak on 98 GP

Hi,

I have a 98 Pontiac Grand Prix GT w/ 3800 engine. It is leaking coolant off the passenger side where the heater return hose connects to the tensioner assembly. This return connection (no punctures or holes found) to the assembly is loose (not tight fitting) when compared to the other heater hose connection. I believe the leak developed while I was replacing the power steering pump (my arm rested on this connection while securing pump in place).

Tried unsuccessfully several times to tighten back (with out removing hose and fitting) to completely eliminate this leak. Is there a procedure to properly secure this hose?

Currently have connection apart. Drained coolant first and now working with the fitting.

The o-ring on the fitting is bad. I will look to replace.

Replaced o-ring eliminated the leak.

FYI: To replace this part (dealer part: Heater Inlet Outlet Adapter) is around $12 including tax. Takes a day to receive from warehouse...dealers here do not stock it. Acquire a o-ring is a lot less and faster.

The most common issue there (for others that might read this) is the plastic elbow that goes from the LIM to the belt tensioner cracks and leaks, so the o-ring would do no good. Your's having a bad o-ring is the exception, not the rule. Glad you got her fixed though.
