Engine Swap

I have a 1989 Oldsmobile Eighty Eight. I like the car but I want to swap the engine in it because it give me too many problems plus the transmission has went out for the second time. I want to know what would be the best engine to swap it with?
So far I've been looking to swap it with either a 5.3L LS4, or 4.6L NorthStar. I was told that it would be easy just to swap it with 4.0L L47. I'm open to any suggestions. The original engine is a 3.8L LN3 (the preseries). Any advice is welcome.
