1995 Grand Prix shifting problems

I have a 1995 grand prix with a 3.1 liter AT. When it upshifts if feels like it falls on its face when it hits the higher gear. Also sometimes it won't downshift when it is supposed to. I thought it was a fuel problem, when it shifted and demanded more fuel it didn't have it so it lost power. I replaced the fuel filter and fuel pump and I don't know what is going on. When it shifts the car will jerk also. Has anybody experienced this or have any ideas? thanks

welcome to AF

does it do this only when accelerating lightly, or even at hard acceleration/WOT?

How long since it's been tuned up?

When I accelerate hard it shifts hard but doesn't bog down. When I'm driving slow it is the worst. I had the transmission flushed about 30,000 miles ago.

The trans flush probably did you in. They are a VERY bad idea on a high mileage (over 75K miles). Most likely either the clutches are now glazed and grabby, or the shift solenoids are acting up.

One thing to check, take the vacuum hose of the vacuum modulator (located on the front of the trans case on the driver's side of the car) and see if it's wet with fluid. If it is, the vacuum modulator could be bad causing the hanging between gears on light acceleration, but the modulator has no effect on WOT shifts.

It's only been acting up for about the last 5000 miles though, wouldn't problems from the flush have shown up earlier?
