Hooking Heater Back Up, What Hoses 1991 Camaro

I replaced my heater core awhile back while I was under the dash fixing a bunch of burnt wires. Now it is time to hook the heater back up, but I don't have a clue as to how to do so. That's because it was bypassed before I got the car. Does anybody have any diagrams showing how to hook the heater hoses up, and what heater hoses I need. I think somebody told me I need a heater valve too? I have a 1991 Camaro RS V8 Automatic.


Also, does the heater being hooked up cause the car to run better? Should I leave it bypassed? Also, I think my rear main oil seal is leaking, does anybody have any clues on how to change that? I read step two as "remove the transmission." I'm thinking I should just take it in and pay the mechanic. Is that going to cost a bunch of $$$? I want to keep the car, so I'm thinking fix the leaking oil and then hook the heater back up and the Camaro should last a lot longer?

Issue 1 - Heater core is a easy hook up 2 hoses one in and one out, done. I don't remember exaclty on this application, but a few GM's used a different hose size for in and out to cut the confusion. Otherwise I've seen heater cores with a a arrow on the neck to indicate flow (kida like on your furnace filter). IF, the hoses are indeed the same size, no need to fret, normally the top hose is the inlet.

Issue 2 - The rear main is a job best reserved for a quiet weekend afternnon with pleanty of beer. Does'nt hurt either to select a weekend when your neighbors will be out of town as I guarentee a few F bombs will be droped as "step 2" is almost a given.
