after market gauges

does anybody know a site with nice after market gauges. i want a black face with white numbers. thanks

not sure if I have seen a black face that has white numbers. The gauges I have are the EL S7 reverse glow gauges...they are white and silver face with a changeable number color in different shades of blue. By far the slickest looking gauges for our cars (at least thats how I feel).

Look into the Autometer Z series... They are black faced with white numbers and look pretty sharp IMO because they aren't over the top fancy and cluttered...

If you are just looking for aftermarket guages in the regular guage bezel, then I would have to recommend the ones I bought off of ebay. They lok really nice. just get on ebay and search for 03 eclipse, then look around and they are called like "angel guages" or something like that. But they look really nice when they are off with a black backround and white numbers, and at night they glow a sharp white. I will take a picture and post tomorrow or something, but they really do look awesome. They are like 35 bucks I think, but its totally worth it

i just bought some reverse glow gauges by alfa otto. im really into the angel gauges and they are cheaper. but do you need to reset the needles or anything like that?

Here's the deal with the angel guages, They are a BITCH to get on. Granted, they look awesome once they are, its quick a chore to get them together. The issue with the needles is the two main needles have little spike things on the back of the right across from the main point....like this --O- the little one is the hard part because the circle for the guages is tough to fit over it. In the end I pulled the needles off when the car was on so that I would be able to see exactly where the RPMs were. The only thing with the speedometer was I had to leave the guage cluster off and have a friend drive next to me with his car cruising at 40 to set it right again. The fuel gauge and temp are A LOT easier. apart from that they look SICK! and I really will try to get a few pics up, I just haven't had a chance yet. ~sorry~ but yeah, I would go for the angel guages because they REALLY DO look like a perfect "stock" replacement. until they are turned on.Ok, stopping now. I'll really try for the pics, promise =D

sorry for the double post but i forgot to mention, that grey thing that goes around the speedometer needs to come off if you get the angel gauges. I just broke it off but I'm sure there's a better way to get it off if you just look around a bit

if i get it done proffesionally, do you think they would be able to install it without resetting the needles?

I was looking at some speedhut ones when I first got my Eclipse but I never got any. You can design your own on the website so surely you could get black and white ones from them.

OK, there is no way to put on aftermarket gauge faces without taking off the needles. I am pretty sure that the hole for the needles is not big enough for the base of the needle to slip through, so I am pretty sure the needles have to come off. Once again though, not that big of a deal. Use a divet tool for golf to gently slip the needles off. But before you do that make sure the car is at regular operating temperature and you make a note of what RPM you are at and what your temp gauge says. As for the speed, if you know of any speed detectors setup around you place that is a good way to check your speedo...otherwise have a friend with an accurate speedo drive next to you at the posted speed limit and take note of how much you need to change your needle. When I did mine I think it was only off by like 2mph, and the speedo read faster than I was actually going, so it was fine with me. This process, the whole thing, is not hard at all. The hardest part, as with anything that involves wires, is obviously running them and hooking them up where you need to. As stated in a previous thread, I hooked mine up to a toggle switch located near my cig lighter...some people run them through their parking lights...anywhere works fine, it's all about how you want to do it.

im not very used to car stuff like this. it says use my parking lights, where is that located or how will i tell if its the parking light wire?

Honestly, I have no idea how anyone else found the parking lights either. So, I must be retarded or just an idiot, but I gave up on that idea and ran them behind the console and just spliced into the cigarette lighter. The lighter only comes on when the car is turned on so you won't have to worrk about shutting the guages off at all. also, I have a pic of my gauges but have no idea how to post it up, help please?

to get to the parking lights you can either run through the wires coming from your headlight switch off your steering column, or you can do what most people do and run the wired though your firewall and splice it directly into your parking lights located in your turn signals. You will have to use your blinkers to determine which wires are for you signals and your parking lights....otherwise your gauges will only light up when your signals are on...lame


and when i say run it through your firewall i mean to run the gauge wires to the very front of your car to the actual turn signals in your bumper...

that seems like alot of work if i do it through the firewall. can you tell me how to do it if i wanted to use my ciggarette lighter?

Why don't you just tap em into the dimmer switch in the dash so you can adjust the lighting of them like your normal gauges... That's what I just did with all mine...

it says dont use the dimmer cause its going to result in power failure or burn them out completely

yeah. Now I just have to work on getting some red lights behind the dash cluster. Then it will all turn out good. And gotta get that damn SES taken care of....

for anybody that used their factory dimmer as a power source, you never had a power failure? if that never happened to you then im going to use my dimmer.
