Im getting a new tranny for my 89 Si and the tranny is from a 1990-91 Civic...the guy said that i'll need a new clutch plate...does this mean i need a new clutch plate for a 90-91 Civic? or just a new clutch plate? cause i just recently bought a new clutch for my old Si tranny (Daikin) so please tell me if i wasted my money on the new clutch or not.

no im almost 100% certain that the old clutch will fit in your newer tranny, but ask one of the heavy tech gurus in here.

first of all you have me confused because you talk as if though your clutch is connected to your transmission.your clutch is bolted by 12point bolts right to your flywheel....I think 12millimeters...90-91had bigger clutches than the 88-89's did so you could upgrade in that aspect other than that I think the 89-91's should be the same cuz 88 was the year they had smaller drive splines...I think you should be ok....just slap it on.....oh and make it easy on yourself and take that fucking torsion bar that runs crossways off when you do your tranny....I never did and it was a bitch but this last time when I put in the si tranny I took it off..went so nice...80degrees in my garage 10degrees and snowing outside...hehe

I have changed enough motors and trannys, i have it to where i can change a Honda tranny is about 2 1/2 hours start to finish. I would put a new clutch in and have your flywheel resurfaced, even if the flywheel looks okay have it resurfaced or you'll be mad when your clutch chatters in a few thousand miles.
