My battery died a couple days ago and i jumped my car and it started up just fine and ran normal but the battery wouldnt take a charge at all...right after i turned the car off and took the jumper cables off everything died...and today when i tried to jump it again it wouldnt even try to start..it just clicked and all the lights inside the car dimmed and pretty much went out when i tried to start it...do i just need a new battery or is there something else wrong too?

Take the battery to checker auto parts or a place like that. They will test the battery for free and tell you if it's good or bad. That what I had to do.

this sounds kinda like what happened to me. If your battery isn't charging, it is most likely that your alternator is bad.

well this is the third time the battery has been completely drained because my door doesnt shut sometimes..so that makes the dome light stay on and that kills the battery...do batteries lose their ability to hold a charge after being drained to many times? i am just going to buy a new battery sometime and hope that works

Also if you can take you car to checker, they are able to test your alternator while the car is running. Then you can narrow the problem down. Funny thing, my battery is doing the same thing.

yes i have heard that batteries can only take roughly around 3 hard drains... after that, battery cells inside might be damaged and won't charge properly anymore or won't even hold a charge anymore even after being charged for a long period of time.. so yes i am willing to bet you need a new battery from what you are describing

You should have the battery and alternator checked, also, make usre that the alt belt is ok.

your root problem could be the alternator but you may have to replace the battery now also.

After you ge this sorted out, fix your door or turn your dome light to the always off position.:smooch:
