have a 94' base 3000gt and I was wondering.
Is it all that to get a tt conversion done..or is there something I can do to my car that will make it just as fast or even faster

is it all what?
actually, its probably more than whatever you think. you can cut corners and forget the sensors and controls, but it will run like crap. do it right.
so you want HP for cheap? hahaahaaahahahah. best bang for your buck: Corvette.
your car can be:
-fast
-reliable
-cheap
....pick 2.
welcome to AF. read the FAQ sticky thread.

Reading the FAQ? Yes
TT conversion? If you want a fast car, yes, but you gotta do it right. Depends how much money you have to spend and how fast you want to be.

couldn't have said it better myself.
I have seen way too many tt conversions blow up because someone tried to throw the conversion on as quickly as possible with the minimum number of parts as possible, then take it out immediately and romp on it, and thats all she wrote.

New2mitsu, how much would you charge as far as all the parts for a complete
swap?

i've been researching a TT conversion myself. i'm estimating mine at about 8 thousand alone. all the parts i can name off the top of my head are here...
turbos
wastegate
bov
exhaust manifolds
exhaust system
bigger fuel injectors
bigger fuel pump
downpipe
vr-4 ECU
vr-4 intake plenium
new 8:1 pistons
new connecting rods
intercooler
y pipe
intake pipes & filters
boost controller
vr-4 water housing
water return lines
modified oil pan
oil lines
oil housing
boost gauge
AF ratio gauge
+ all gaskets and whatever...
AND THEN since you have a fwd, you would have no traction with all your added HP, so you would need nearly slicks to use around town to race with, unless you plan on racing from a roll. personally though, i always go from stoplights. i doubt you aren't doing the conversion for the power to race, because then it's going to be wasting twice as much gas.
it's worth it if you want a project that you will start and finish yourself. are you mechanically intelligent? It's worth it if you want to stand out from the rest and want to save a few hundred pounds from the vr-4. i want my conversion to be proud and say i did it myself and its not a vr-4.
you can cut corners and run boost from your stock 10:1 pistons, but you don't get much boost from that. after about 13:1= boom!
anyway, for some good news, 3sx.com is strictly for the 3000GT/Stealth. i don't know of any other online stores that are for the 3s alone. but anyway, there are hundreds of people here at AF who will be willing to sell you parts.

^^A TT conversion can easily be done for less than $8k. What exact setup are you planning on running?

not sure, as i dont have extra intercoolers, and what not, but i jus did mine w/ a JDM motor that only had 22k miles on it, and it runs LIKE A DREAM... i did mine for <5k

well and dont forget I had about 3k in already for the complete rebuilt TT engine plus gauges, elec. boost controller and Apexi SAFC. I still needed the Intercoolers and piping but if you run stock on those people are always parting out their cars on 3si. I found some guy selling the piping and intercoolers for like 80 bucks once. I just needed to get someone to do the swap for me. Thats what I couldnt afford. I actually rode in a FWD TT ATX at the Charlotte 3sx Gathering a lil while back and it was soooo nice. He basically did exactly what I was planning on doing. If I didnt have other stuff going on right now I def. would have continued with the swap.

i'd have to agree...if ur going to spend 8g on the conversion...y not just sell ur car and buy a vr4/rt tt. at least then u get awd and have very lil traction issues.
i rode in a fwd tt at 3sxgathering in charlotte(yea same one mentioned b4) it was quick, but no different than my tt, just a shit load more torque steer. and that damn bov got annoying.
if money is no object, do the conversion. if ur doing it on a budget...get a vette if u want power. contact hot3000, she has a 7000mile tt engine for sale forlike 1700-2000g. plus a few extra goodies for a lil bit more money. if u cant get her, contact me, i'll call her or something(we're really not talking to each other) but if it were money involved she'd talk
