Door pillar rot

Does anyone else have trouble with door pillar rusting under the hinge? Mine rusted under the top hinge of the driver side door and the door came off about two winters ago. I used a mig welder and built up some metal and welded the hing back on, it was temporary. The door is sagging some so my temporary repair must be letting go. I talked to another guy that has one and his did the same thing. I guess I should take off the fender and cut out the rot and plug weld a heavier piece of metal behind the old and then patch the top layer and weld the door hinges back on. I miss bolt on hinges. Rust proofing behind the repair will be tough.

lol at least im not the only one :P both of mine fell off and i just ended up welding a piece of metal in and tapping holes and bolted them back on, havent had a problem since. :)
