I was going to give you props until I saw that it wasn't you.
That's pretty cool though, high 12s with such little mods.

I didn't even have to click the link to know it was the MS3 one.
SRT-4 guys are scuurreed,lol.
Very nice performers out of the box and seems like they are responding well to mods.

that 12 second 1/4 was all because of the slicks though. with street tires and that trap speed, its a mid 13 second car. still much improved over the stock 100mph trap speed.

Wow how beefy are the CV's and trannys on the MS3's to handle launches on slicks?

what's the psi at stock?
I'm more impressed at the 107 then the 12.7. Those mods minus the slicks are minimal

I agree, with the trap speed, it was 100% due to traction. They tested a 01 Cobra (n/a) at a 12.8 bone stock down to the paper filter except for slicks. They make a huge difference.

According to Car and Driver, th MS3 held up to numerous 3000rpm clutch dumps with no lift shifts. Stock boost is 15.6 psi, but they can handle up to 18 no problem. The stock turbo doesn't flow past 20psi, however.

That is a proven lie by the VW community. The KO4 can boost up to 30pounds which after that it becomes inefficient and shoots flames, lol so yeah it can handle 20 pounds, just need proper tuning. If my turbo can handle past 20 pounds and its smaller then yours (Which is the upgrade to mine) can easily handle it.

According to everyone at the Mazdaspeed3 site I'm getting this from, the turbo is inefficient past 20psi. At that point, your better off buying a bigger turbo and running a bit less boost to get more power more efficently. You can crank any turbo up to run XX amount of boost. Doesn't mean you should.

Same with 944 T's. Stock K26/6 stops producing horsepower at 19 lbs or so....so raising boost to get more doesn't do anything...The TORQUE however, still rises. How much on the stocker, we don't know yet.:grinyes:

Only one way to find out...whose gonna be the first to sacrifice their car for the greater good of the community.
Honestly, I'll be happy with this with some bolt ons for now. Intake, full exhaust, BPV, good ECU tune or flash, and maybe an EBC or MBC up to 18psi with a FCD. Looking to keep it a nice reliable and quick daily driver that can handle well with some suspension bits. It also depends on how long I stay with the company I'm with.

The ECU flash that cobb is now working on should up the boost to 18pounds so i would hold off on that, its a better alternative to a MBC or EBC in terms of daily drivability.

Yeah, the same one that Cobb has been working on for the Speed3 for a while now, lol. I'd like to pick it up when it eventually comes out, but if I do decide to go more boost before then, Forge UNOS MBC plus the FCD FTW. Anyways, I'll probably wait for BEGi to get their XEDE to market. Which ever comes first and works best based on prooven results. I don't mind not being first as long as I know my shit wont blow up, lol. Let someone else do all the research.

well good news for you cobb finished their reflash for the rx-8 supercharger so they are focusing their efforts back onto the speed 3 and 6

Yeah, I know they have a general idea on the Mazda ECU coding. Its not that they don't have the ability to do it, its just the ECU code is complex as all hell. All the manufacturers are doing it now. Right now, CP-E and BEGi have computers, both are piggybacks and only the BEGi is PnP. CP-E is working on a plug and play, and I don't want to hack into my wiring harness for the set up. BEGi is just using the standard XEDE box like Vishnu used to use on the Evos/STis/335s, but they can't get access to the female plug in the car. Proprietary rights and all...
I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the Cobb, it looks to be the cheapest of them all, but I'm hesitant on what may come out. They are a great place, thats for sure, and well respected in the Scooby camps, but I just don't want them using Scooby tricks for a Mazda. Le Sigh.

Eh I trust them with what they did, but i guess thats cause they went over to pettit racing, where they developed the supercharger, and worked with them along with steve kahn on making the reflash.
