Hopefully one of you techno wizzes can help me out here........Usually when my computer makes a sound of somesort, I get a sort of a d..d...d...d protest and then the rest of the sound plays, can anyone here tell me what is wrong???? Is it the sound card or does it have anything to do with the fact I am running Windows 98 Version 1 (THE worst windows ever)

Please help......it's stopping me from enjoying my music :(

I'm not an PC technician, but it sounds like the sound card's conflicting w/ another piece of hardware on startup. The operating system has nothing to do with it (i'm running 98SE with no problem). Get it checked out by a PC dude.

1. It could be a software/hardware conflict. You might try re-installing your divers or move the sound card to a different PCI slot.

2. You might need a clean install, your computer might just be running very low and be low on resources, that can be a big problem. I suggest a clean install if you never have on this computer.

3. Though very rare the sound card might be having hardware issues, I highly doubt that though.

It sounds like it could be a RAM issue? How much ya got in there? Could be a buffer prob...

Post your pc specs along with what version driver your using.

Its sounds like a basic conflict between hardware/software, try a driver install first, if it doesn't work, then post the pc specs n driver version your using.

Also, what this problem recent or it "just" happend with the same pc spec?
