I'm trying to help my dad figure out what is wrong with a car he has in his shop (was having trouble with other forums). He bought the car a couple of months ago from an owner who had been rearended. The body work is nearly done on the car so it is time to get it running again.
When they picked the car up, it ran great and they drove it about 50 feet before it quit and they had to trailer it to the shop. The crash module has been replaced. The car has spark. It turns over fine. There is fuel pressure. It sounds like it wants to start for a minute or two and then just turns over and quits trying. He has tried giving it gas. He has tried not giving it gas. Also, when it stops trying to start the flashers come on and you have to hit turn them on and off again inside the car to get it to stop. Any other information I can find from him that will help? Any suggestions?

In BMW's they have a sensor that will automatically turn the four way flashers on when you have been involved in an accident. The vehicle probably still thinks it's in an accident and therefore does not want to start. (And yes I read the part about you changing the sensor.)
I don't know, check for vacuum leaks, check the gas cap on the fuel tank, it was rearended it could have a damaged seal. Check the oil filler cap, and also the dipstick to ensure a good seal. (Will run like a piece of shit if they aren't on properly, and possibly not start due to this.)
Make sure there is not more than one crash sensor damaged on the vehicle. Check all the fuses, check all the wiring harnesses to ensure all the connections are snug...I know it's a pain in the ass, but you asked.
Is the starter overheating? Is that why it quits trying to start?
Was the oxygen sensor damaged in the accident? Or the wire cut to it?
The more I read your post, the more it seems that the car still thinks it's been hit. I would look around for another crash sensor if there is one in the car. Or maybe the one you have is damaged?

A good thing to check would be your battery wires. I had a problem once with 5-series when it would not start or die unexpectedly. There was a loose battery wire.
Best of luck.

Good call on the wires. Also check that you aren't grounding out, i.e. bare wire rubbing up against frame and no start. Although if that happened the battery would eventually be dead.
