Check in your user's manuel if you have it, in a lot of cars its an option you can enable or dissable.

what year is the car? The automatic lock feature was an option that didn't come around until '94 or '95, I believe. It wasn't always a standard feature.

Hi again. The year of my car is a 95. I have also noticed, that if I start the car with remote starter, the doors will lock when it is put into gear. Hope this will help with the suggestions. Also I do not have the manual for the vechicle. Thanks a lot for your help and insight.:) :)

If you've got a remote starter, then that's a whole other control module that is activating the locks when the ignition is started. I've got an aftermarket keyless entry system that engages the locks when the switch is turned to run, and unlocks the the locks when the car is switched off (otherwise my car, without the aftermarket keyless entry system, will not automatically engage the power locks as it was not originally equipped to do so). That must be the case with your vehicle. The remote starter system came equipped with the auto-lock feature, but the vehicle itself may not have the same feature. If your car is supposed to have the auto-lock feature, I'd suspect a faulty PNP (Park/ Neutral Position) switch/ circuit.
