I need to replace the rear window in my daughters driver side door. Window shattered and is still intact. How hard is it to get the glass replaced?
What do i have to do to get the glass out and new installed. Are there any sites for a step by step remove and install? I remember replacing the cable system on her old ls window nylon rollers cracked and all the cable got messed up. Had to go new. But trying to remember what it would take to replace the window.

Thanks for any replies.

I haven't done a back window, but the fronts on a 2002 have rubber bumpers over stamped steel clamps with a 10mm bolt that tighten the rubber-coated clamps to grasp the window.

To get the glass out, you remove the door panel and lower the window so that you can still access the clamp bolts, but so that it's near the bottom. Then remove the vapor shield, loosen the clamps holding the window glass, then lift the window out.

To put the new in, tilt the new glass so that it will feed into the door. Make sure the window is positioned properly in the weather stripping. Snug the clamp bolts to hold the window in place, then temporarily connect the door panel electrical connector and move the window to the up position, making sure the window is properly aligned. Reposition if necessary, then tighten the clamp bolts. Disconnect the electrical connector, replace the vapor shield followed by the door panel, and test it out.

I just reviewed the procedure. I missed a few steps. Let me know if you want the service manual excerpt.
