96 bravada tailgate

My 96 bravda tailgate won't unlatch. When you hit the release button or use a key in the tailgate you can hear a noise like a solenoid engaging but the tail gate won't release. Anyone have this problem or know how to fix?

Try pushing the door unlock button on the drivers door then retry.
