i am plannin to buy some rims real soon but i am not sure if i should go 18 or 19... i just don't want any rubbing against the fender.. i am not planning to race with them either so what would you all recommend... i really love the clean, big rim tuner look on 350z's and stuff so i was going for the same type of look... i don't want the wheel gap either so if i go 19 will i still have to lower the car a little??i want 19"s but will everything still work accordingly, like no wheel rub and things of that nature...

i think 19s are pushin it, cant remeember 4 sure, but i think my friends 3s(first gen) had 18s on it with 245/40/18's and that was pretty close, and yes, even w/ rims that size, you'll still have more wheel gap than you think

I would stick with 18's for sure.. tire options are way better then with 19's

Bigger rims DO NOT equal less wheel gap.
For instance
On the stock base Stealth 15 inch rims there are 205/65/15
On the stock 16 inch rims there are 225/55/16 or 245/50/16
Stock 17 is 245/45/17
Stock 18 is 245/40/18
The numbers change with each size but the tire is staying the same(or close to the same) diameter.
Stick with 18's and for a SOHC the only real way to lower it is with coilovers.
Heres mine on Megan Racing coilovers. They are TRUE coilovers and not the sleeved Ground Control or ebay type.

18s look better and seem to fit the proportions of the car better IMO

Now that I think about it, having played lots of video games where you can customize your own car/body kits/WHEELS etc etc I think that it really depends on the rims that you're looking at. My 19's look good because they got that clean, thick, "infinity" look to them. But I'd have to agree that other styles may look better in a smaller size. I like the rims on that yellow 3k on the first page of this thread and they're 19's. Guess I've always been partial to the big rim look.

These http://www.hookupshop.com/project/RX8/Parts/rims.jpg would look better in 18s or 19s

hey SL3000gt... i was wondering on the pictures that you posted... the blue 3000gt', is it lowered also..or is that 19 inches with stock height??? because my 3000gt looks exactly like that, the same blue color and that is the look i am seeking for, i was going for a staggered set of wheels too,... could by any chance get the exact rim sizes, offset and the tire size,

Hmmm I will have to check with Dave on the exact wheel sizes. I think he has 245/35's in the front and 275/30's in the rear but I could be wrong. As fro suspension, it has been lowered. There is hardly an item on that car that is stock all the way down to the interior. In fact, though it looks like a 99 3000GT, it is actually a 92 Stealth RT/TT.

dang... it looks real good for a 92...lol.. i thought it was like a 98...

ive got 9s on mine too stealthee. how wide can you go w/o worrying about turning clearence? how far do your coiloveres drop it?
Stealthee
10-17-2007, 06:31 PM
I could drop mine to completely tuck. As it is I am around 3/4 of an inche from the fender lip to the top of the tire.

I love the 6 spoke set-up. The only problem is that they only make 19s and I think 18s are perfect... :(
