my 2003 GLS just died!

My car stopped functioning while I was driving in a parking lot last night. Thank goodness I wasn't too far from home. Lots of crank, but it just won't catch. The tow truck driver said these are always having the fuel pump replaced. I am finding though, through much reading on various sites, even thought this pump is replaced (at at a high cost) the problem never really goes away! Any one have any other suggestions?

Um, what has been checked out so far, fuel pressure, spark? It appears no attempt to diagnose this has taken place so the questions appear to be premature.

It is at the shop for the mechanics to look at it in the morning. I thought maybe someone else had experience this issue so I wouldn't be going into the shop tomorrow just letting them "analayse" the car to death at my expense. I have read about some other problems with the security and the car not allowing them to start it, but mine lets me turn it over...it just doen't ignite.

Before we sent the car to the shop...it started!!! backfired and then stalled again...we could hear the fuel pump buzzing, but no gas is getting to the engine. To get it started the harness wires were moved aroung and the gas tank banged! If it is the problem with the fuel pump, would it start like that and then just stop? when its broken...should it start?

Could be, you are getting ahead of yourself here, what was or is being checked/found at the shop?
