Anyone replace long P/S Pressure Hose?

I have pin-pointed the leak and it is the long(130") pressure hose from the power steering pump.
Of course the dealer can get it for $199.00 and the other parts store for $48.00
Has anyone ever changed it? It looks straight-forward but the dealer said it snakes around quite a bit - difficult to replace.

thx for any advise.

The pressure hose is easy. just remove fluid from tank then undo circuit connector for pressure sensor, unscrew retainers (10)mm, loosen hose fitting at rack. remember to put new O ring on new pressure hose and change out the pressure sensor. The return line is a real bugger. If you must change it you will probably have to remove the radiator to get it out and the new one installed.

Thanks man - unfortunately it is the return line and the part is not available any more. I can have it custom made, but will cost a fortune...

The only other alternative is to cut away the bad end, flare the new end and re-attach. Even this is about a $300.00 job due to its location. At least the leak will stop.

On another note:
While they were under the car, they said the K-frame at the front is not doing well. It basically is rusting out - has some movement. The old 'rora' is showing it's age...

Someone is putting the stealer act on you. These hoses are available from delco dealers. Product line "GAT" part# 367650 net price $33.47 and "GAT" part #370460 net price $31.72. I don't remember which is the pressure and which is the return.

That's what I thought, but when the part showed up it did not fit and apparently there is a problem with '99 only. They refused to do the job due to the many re-routing options. So I picked up the car and went home. They couldn't handle the job.

Then I asked the dealer and they said the same thing. They said it looks like the parts are a plenty on-line a what not, but the '99 is the exception for the return line.

I find it hard to believe two reputable garages would say the same thing just to rip me off - perhaps so...

you follow along wrong path here.
pm me your vin and i'll give you GM part number for the hose. Then you go to gmpartsdirect (or other dealer vendor) and order it.
This will GUARANTEE that you will get proper hose for YOUR vehicle...

GATES parts are ok, but they are too 'generic'
