93 grand am v6, can anyone tell me what ctsy fuse controls, i know cig lighter,i think door locks. The locks will lock when put in drive but not from switches, the thing is the ctsy fuse is totally fried cant even put a fuse there, I had to cut orange/black wire leading from behind fuse box, i believe it went directly to cigerette lighter, the wires were fried to copper, can anyone help, tell me, if it spliced back in anywere or because it is gone is there a open loop thanks in advance.

Your lighter could be bad and caused the initial short blowing the fuse.
Then when you bypassed the fusebox the current melts the wire casing.

that's just my hypothosis......

also the fuse box should be marked whats what.

thanks but the wire was fried when i got the car 2 weeks ago, it was attached to the cig lighter, i removed and replaced 10 wires leading into center console and shifter. i dont know what caused the frying i am curious to is causing an open loop for the doors to not lock/unlock by the switch there is nothing in fuse panal & i did not receive an owners manual. thanks

Could be a wire that goes to the doors.

might be a relay for the lock thats bad causing an open circuit too.

Electrical gremlins can be difficult to track down.

Though like I mentioned before, make sure the lighter isnt the problm.
They get bent inside and that would be a bad thing causing shorts.

thanks but i dont think i have made myself clear
1. the wire to the cig orange/black that goes to the fuse box has been totally deleted.even fried fuse box at ctsy fuse, cant even put fuse there.
2. the locks lock going in to drive but not from switches or unlock when put into park. do you think deleting these has caused an open circuit, where is relay, thanks.

ok that might make more sense....
1 if this is true then your fuse box may be damaged and needing replaced since its been fried.

2 the lock/unlock has to do with the program thats been set up for the auto locks. Its been a while since I've messed with this year(93) GA, but I think you just hold down the lock button on the drivers door to select the different set ups for the auto locks.

If the locks do not work from the switchs then test for power at the switch. If they have power and are not working then the switch is bad.

If you had a wire diagram it might help isolate your gremlins.

Good Luck
