Temp gauge at 100

2001 Grand Am 3.4L V6
After I drove home tonight right when I pulled into my driveway I noticed my temp gauge was just sitting at 100.. I turned the car off and back on, it did its diagnostics thing when starting up, then slowly went up to 100 and sat there again. I also noticed when turning the car off I heard some fans shutting off which I don't ever hear unless I have the AC(?) on. Just wondering if it's just the sensor thats bad or what it could be? Thanks in advance :)

Sounds like its running too cool.
If you have the AC or DeFrost on, the fan(s) run.
Your thermostat might be bad or it could be your temp sensor or the wires in the sensor cicuit.
Check out the "Tips and Maintenance" for the test procedures for the temp sensor.
This is how the fans operate...
The PCM commands Low Speed Fans ON under the following conditions:
The engine coolant temperature exceeds approximately 106°C (223°F).
The A/C refrigerant pressure exceeds 1310 kPa (190 psi).
The vehicle is shut off when the engine coolant temperature is greater than 140°C (284°F) and system voltage is more than 12 volts. The fans will stay ON for approximately 3 minutes.
The PCM commands High Speed Fans on under the following conditions:
The engine coolant temperature reaches 110°C (230°F).
The A/C refrigerant pressure exceeds 1655 kPa (240 psi).
When certain DTCs set.
If you have the AC or DeFrost on, the fan(s) run.
